Gunfight breaks out in J&K's Shopian district


Srinagar, Feb 27 (IANS): A gunfight started between the security forces and holed up militants on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.

Police said security forces started a cordon and search operation in Mamender village of Shopian district following specific information about the presence of militants there.

"When the cordon around the hiding militants was tightened, they fired at the security forces triggering the ongoing encounter," police said.
