Bantwal: Vehicle checking on highway - 800 cases registered, Rs 1.25 lac fined

Bantwal, Feb 27: The police undertook operation against vehicles found violating traffic norms on national highway 75 between Mangaluru and Bengaluru and registered over 800 cases. A sum of Rs 1.25 lac was collected from offenders by way of fine.

In conducting this operation undertaken on Tuesday February 26, assistant superintendent of police here, Saidul Adavath, led a team of 22 police personnel. 80 vehicles found to be moving about without possessing documents pertaining to the vehicle and those without insurance, were confiscated. Out of them, 40 were let off after collection of fine. The other 40 have remained with the police.

The police, by acting against two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets, and vehicles not possessing insurance, fitness certificate etc, have sent a strong signal to erring owners and drivers.

Station house officers of Bantwal, Beltangady and Vittal took part in the operation. Transport officer here, Charan, town station house officer, Prasanna, Melkar traffic sub-inspector, Manjula K M, Vital station house officer, Yallappa and other staff participated in the operation which was conducted in and around Bantwal, Vittal, and surrounding places.

    Strict Traffic laws must be implemented by Police to save accidents and smooth flow of traffic. It is a income for the Government and also helps to pay compensation for the victims by Insurance companies. Congratulations for the good work by Policemen.

    If any violation in Traffic rules , Havey fine + Cars and two wheelers, keep the vehicle in the Police station for minimum 2 days and for Buses and trucks keep inside for minimum one week. Everything will come to normal in few days. I think that's the best punishment.

    Fine amount on 800 vehicles (1.25000/800= 156 rs) is very small , that is why people do not care about offence and repeat... Required Heavy fines to stop repeated offence ....

    What about the private city buses. What have the police done to restrict their hazardous driving both witin an outside city limits. It's a good move by the police to avoid any untoward incident from happening by terrorist groups. But at the same time all vehicle movements need to dealt equally.

    Good Work by the Police..
    But Tipper / heavy vehicle checking should be the FIRST priority.
    So that number of accidents can reduce and also can save lives of two Wheelers, Cars and Pedestrians...

    But you can never ever do anything about the erring buses and autos. Just look at what they have again done with the plastic dividers near jyothi. Look at where they stop to pick passengers, look at how they react when anyone objects.

    What about fines for buses and trucks with single headlight ani no break lights?? Most accident with at night time is because of theses kind of vehicles... fine them not less than 5000, and dont allow them to move the vehicle without fixing the lights..

    I still believe, police should take data from RTO and seize all vehicles which don't have FC and insurance. Why wait them at road? Govt has data, address..
