Imran again invites India for talks, warns against 'miscalculation'

Islamabad, Feb 27 (IANS): Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday again invited India for talks and urged that "better sense should prevail" amid escalating tensions between the two neighbours.

Khan's comments came after an aerial engagement between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in which New Delhi said it shot down a Pakistan fighter jet but lost one of its MiG-21s, with its pilot reportedly in Pakistani custody.

Khan said in an address to the nation: "I wanted to take you into confidence regarding the situation arising since yesterday. After the Pulwama incident, we offered India to cooperate in the probe. We know they suffered casualties.

"We offered India that we would investigate. We wanted to cooperate and were ready to do so. I feared that India would still take action and I had therefore warned India against aggression.

"When India stuck yesterday morning (on the JeM training camp at Balakot), we spoke to our Army command and waited to take action till we assessed the damage caused.

"Our action was only intended to convey that if you can come into our country, we can do the same. Two of their MiGs were shot down... From here, it is imperative that we use our heads and act with wisdom," he said.

"All wars are miscalculated, and no one knows where they lead to. World War I was supposed to end in weeks, it took six years. Similarly, the war on terrorism was not supposed to last 17 years.

"I ask India: With the weapons you have and the weapons we have, can we really afford a miscalculation? If this escalates, it will no longer be in my control or in (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi's.

"We understand the grief that you have suffered in Pulwama and are ready for a probe and dialogue. Let's sit together and settle this with talks," Khan added.

Talks will be futile until and unless terrorists breeding on your soil are weeded out. If you are really serious about peace, then either weed out terrorists or allow our forces do the job.

Talks"? with whom, Imran Khan ??? Does Imran really think he is running the country?

Pakistan is a theocracy run by the Army and the Mullahs, and regrettably this is the harsh reality that not only India, but ALL the peoples of world have to deal with.

Looks like paid media is fighting war more than our defense force! Specially Times now and Republic TV is on top level and couple of Kannada TVs too no less!! Its high time they give near realistic and credible info! Defending India is must! But certainly not....fake news....we are the first one... repeatedly ...that too not accurate news is really fooling the public! Most channels wants to show that they are better informed than the rest! Pity!!!
Scrap article 370 & 35A, put the separatists behind bars for decades, stone pelters with strong lathis, tear gas and water cannons, terrorists by encounter....that may have real impact on a short and long run!

War brings only disaster. Its better to fix with a mutual understating. Our war is against terrorism not against countries. Take this to your head first.

War is someones gain and someones loss. The one gaining is arms manufacturer, the one loosing is innocent.

Dialogue yields only when both parties abide fully for the out come of what they talk and act suitably. Hidden agenda bares no fruit. Openness, readiness to change and faithfulness are at most important. It is not the first time that Pakistan offering for talk. India & Pakistan must talk. It is important. At the same time reflect about the results of earlier talks.

Ball is now in India's court.
Looks like Modi has won the match with a hat trick!
India got a good opportunity to negotiate or dictate terms as to destroying all the terrorist training camps inside Pak territory.
Good understanding and peace is better for prosperity for both the countries.
