Mangaluru, Feb 27: Vartabharathi daily newspaper’s sub editor Imtiaz Shah Tumbe was conferred with Pa Go Award by Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association here at press club on Wednesday, February 27.
The award was given for special report by Imthiaz ‘Koduva Kaigaligagi Kayuthiruva Kodagu’ (Kodagu waiting for giving hands). The article was published in Vartabharathi on August 31, 2018.
Selection committee comprising veteran journalist Surendra Shetty, Reshma G Ullal and lecturer Dr Moulya Jeevan selected the report by Imthiaz for the award which consists of a cash amount of Rs 10,001, an award panel and a memento.
Information officer K Rohini presented the award to Imtiaz Shah Thumbe.
Speaking on the occasion, Imtiaz Shah Tumbe said, "I thank the staff of Vartabharathi for their continuous hard work and the association for recognising me with this award. My editor had asked me to visit Kodagu and write about the problems faced by people over there. I spent a week at Kodagu and wrote about problems faced by people in Kodagu. I thank everyone for giving me this opportunity.”
Journalist Vijay Kotian compered the programme, and R C Bhat welcomed the gathering.
Senior journalist Manohar Prasad, wife of Padyana Gopalakrishna, Savithri, Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Association president Srinivas Nayak, and association chief secretary Ibrahim Adkastala were present.
