Udupi: Leopard spotted in densely populated area in Manipal

Udupi, Feb 28: The residents of Vidyarathna Nagar at Manipal near here are spending anxious moments as a leopard was spotted on the night of Tuesday, February 26.

The leopard was found near the residence of B G Mohandas. The inmates of the house were awakened by the continuous barking of the dogs. When the people in the house started screaming, the leopard escaped from the spot.

It is suspected that the leopard was wandering in the said area in order to prey on the dog. The movements of the leopard are caught on a nearby CCTV.

Residents of the locality informed the forest officials about the appearance of leopard. They have urged the forest department to take suitable action soon.
