Mangaluru: Thokkottu and Pumpwell flyovers to be inaugurated in Apr, May - MP Nalin

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru Feb 28: "Thokkottu and Pumpwell flyovers will be inaugurated on April 10 and May 31 respectively," said Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel.

The meeting of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), chaired by Nithin Gadkari's private secretary, Vaibhav Dange was held at Hotel Taj Gateway on Thursday, February 28, in the presence of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Bharath Y Shetty, Rajesh Naik and NHAI officials.

Soon after the meeting, addressing media here on Thursday February 28, Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "Minister’s private secretary Vaibhav Dange has given the deadline for the completion of Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyovers. As per the schedule, Navayuga Company will clear the service road and junction of Pumpwell and Thokkottu on or before March 15, Thokkottu flyover and Ujjodi underpass on April 10 and Pumpwell flyover will be inaugurated on May 31,"

"There were lots of problems pertaining to national highway. Navayuga Company took over the development works in the year 2012. They have completed works of Pavanje and Netravati bridge at a fast pace, but Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyovers remained stagnant due to land acquisition and clearance, which was to be done by the state government and district administration. Even there was a demand to change the design of the Pumpwell flyover due to the construction of bus stand but NHAI did not agree and retained the same design," added Nalin.

Nalin Kumar further said, “In the meantime, Navayuga Company was pushed into financial doldrums and started to collect the toll, which led to agitation by the people. The financial issue of the company is cleared now in the meeting by doing all the work related to the bank and getting a release of Rs 55 crore for both the projects. Central government will also release additional grant of Rs 7 crore for service road clearance,"

"During the meeting, Navayuga Company highlighted the issue of sand scarcity in the district. Even to utilize the MP funds for the development works there is sand scarcity in the district, which has to be cleared by state government and district administration," said Nalin.

Tollgate problem

"Suratkal tollgate will be scrapped within a month by conducting a meeting and there will be no collection of toll for the local vehicles, including vehicles bearing registration number of KA 19," he informed.

Privatisation of airport

Speaking over the privatisation of Mangaluru airport, MP Nalin said, "Mangaluru airport will start international flights soon. Mangaluru will be developed with the help of schemes launched by the central government."

‘Gadkari has dedicated several development works’

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "Minister Nithin Gadkari has dedicated several development works, worth Rs 250 crore, which includes Mulky-Kateel-BC road, Melkar-Konaje-Talapady stretch under Bharathmala project, Kulshekar-Karkala four lane road and fishing jetty at Chitrapura for which foundation stone will be laid within a week."

MLA’s Vedavyas Kamath, Umanath Kotian, Dr Bharath Y Shetty, Rajesh Naik, project director Samson Vijay Kumar, Lingegowda, managing director of Navayuga Sridhar, regional officer NHAI Suryavamshi and others were present.

We do have a highway that is used by locals from Kuntikan to Nanthur. 2 wheeler riders its a nightmare...leaving out present vehicles and their young owners zooming out as if they are on race track. Politicians should be given a 2 wheeler to ride the roads as mostly their VIP cars are empty in a convoy.

Once again Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar 'Astrological' month of the inauguration of the pump well fly over has no year mentioned.
Interestingly, he makes a point that release of Rs 55 crore for both the projects. The central government will also release an additional grant of Rs 7 crore for service road clearance.
How does the shortage of fund arise if he has spent Rs 14,000 crores in the last 10 years of his ruling?
1st of April fools days. 1st of May is international labor day.

Is MP Nalin Kumar 'baby' with intense labor pains are going to be delivered is eagerly awaited.

It is complete bakwaas. First it was February. Now it is April, May One should not talk like a joker and fool the public. When we watch the progress of work it will take another 5 years to complete this Project. Its reallya tragedy that our Political leaders talk such matters in a lighter way. Action speaks louder than words.

It would be 8th wonder of world if these flyovers are completed by 2019 General Election. It was under Sonia Gandhi's able proxy rule that this flyover was handed over to Navayiga Construction Company owned by former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh late YSR Reddy. Navayuga is under loss after Congress lost 2014 General Election. Unless Sonia Gandhi comes back to power it would be impossible to bring back Navayuga company to profit and complete flyovers.

Ideally we should have a two party system. The person who wins would become the president or prime Minister then clearly the vision willbe seen and can be realized but unfortunately we are a messy democratic country where all you need is a two men a dog and a garage you can register your party and stand for election. Until such a thing exists we will continue to get fooled by jokers trying to sell you the moon.

Mangalore has hitech hospitals and many educationals institutions. There must be uninterrupted 4 lane roads from bangalore, calicut and goa to mangalore.

This road connectivity itself would give a boom to mangalore.

Secondly, it sits on coastal region. Therefore water can be easily brought down from hill regions. Availability of water without much difficulty would give govt enough time to focus on other growth factors.

Another poiny which i would like to mention is about real estate.Unlike bangalore, mangaloreans focus more on constructing appartments which helps to reduce congustion and narrow roads unlike cities like bengaluru.

    Next point is geography :-

Mangalore has diverse geography from plane area to hill tops and slopes which helps better in ventilation for the city.

What we need to focus more:-

    Develop beaches.

    Create clean foot paths

Provide enough parking places with markings

Provide shelters at each bus stop with route map and bus numbers.

The most imprtant development we need at mangalore :-

Satelite bus stand at pumpwel, kottara:- mangalore has approximately 300 private buses. If we reschedule routes from pumpwel and kottara, much traffic jams can be avoided. Let govt buses shuttle around city and these satelite bus stations.
Fully developed local market with enough parking space and all time security:- we have enough malls and newer malls are coming up. But what we are losing with the launch of these malls is, our local vendors are losing customers from their market. Our regular purchases like textile, footwear, grocery etc are in the hands of countable corporates. Its not wise to surrender all these sectors to corporates from each market of country. Let the profits be distributed among its people so that their family, friends and closed one will get the benefit out of it which actually would contribute in creating happiness among prople. Happiness quotient would further reduce disturbance in society in terms of many aspects. Regular interaction of people at these matkets would create love among people ,by that a happy society can be created.
