'Be cautious of Opposition's attempt to spread fake news over social media': Modi

New Delhi, Mar 1 (DC): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged people to not get influenced by fake news being spread over social media by enemy countries. He also cautioned BJP party workers to be wary of attempts of attack by the Opposition, whom he called the "masters of fake news".

“Social media is a democratic media. On it, every person gets an opportunity to speak. Social media has worked to make a big difference in the world over the past few years. Social media and our social media volunteers will have a big contribution to the 2019 Lok Sabha election,” Prime Minister Modi said while addressing the BJP booth workers via video conference.

Urging party workers to use social media to "connect, communicate and correct", Modi said caution must be exercised not to share fake news.

"The Opposition has received 'maharat' (masters) in using fake news. It’s a normal thing, somebody who does not have own agenda, will make fake news as its agenda. Fake news should not be deleted from phones only, but from minds also. In today’s times, enemy countries spread fake news over social media, whether they are in UN or present on any other platform,” he added.

His statement comes ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

During his interaction with the BJP workers, Prime Minister Modi also urged them to use social media as a tool to make people aware of the various initiatives of the central government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is known to follow some of the most abusive and vicious trolls on Twitter. These trolls are notorious for giving grief to anyone, who’s critical of the BJP-led central government and its policies. One of them, identified as Alok Bhatt, has shockingly expressed his desire to declare Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman as a martyr so that India could wage a war against Pakistan.
A man followed by PM Modi wants Wing Commander Abhinandan declared martyr to justify war on Pakistan.
Bhatt wrote, “Treat Wing Cdr Abhi V as a martyr and then fight a bloody and decisive war to payback for Abhi!”

They want to treat him as a martyr so they can fight a war. A martyr when he is alive? Such bloodlust & frenzy…that too by riding on the back of soldiers just to prop up one man who is silent.
Bhatt’s idol Modi has been accused of utter insensitivity for not posting a single tweet on the news of Wing Commander Abhinandan’s capture by the Pakistani army. Instead, he’s been busy preparing for the Lok Sabha elections, which will see him seeking a second term in office. Many experts have predicted that Modi will do everything in his capacity to wage a war since this will help him win elections by pushing the agenda of nationalism.
Modi has never unfollowed trolls even in the face their despicable acts. It’s highly unlikely that he will unfollow this troll on this occasion.
The fact is continued awareness of the United opposition through the social media about fake news of BJP is worrying for the party. At the same time, social media sights are strict about fake news are not in their favor.

Opposition is as patriotic as the ruling party. In a democracy, opposition has the similar trustworthiness as the party that is in government. People can speak like this only during election rally or political propaganda. But in real official functions the opposition should be given due credit. They were all united and standing behind the government during these difficult days. We can always trust our opposition. They may be voted to power in the next election.

Wow! What else can one expect from a sanctimonious person, who won 2014 General Assembly purely utilizing Social Media with Fake News and now wants to curb the same platform inorder to stop the Opposition from highlighting his failures.
I would rather be known in life as an honest sinner, than a lying hypocrite.

Modi Saab when Other political parties started their own IT cell and started promoting their party Ideology, your guys got panic and have increased salary (50 % to 100%) of many staff of BJP IT Cell so that workers will not leave your Fake News factory and join others.

However, still some of your workers came out & spilled the beans in the media. Shame on you guys. First admit that you have started the dirty game and then apologize for the same.
