Kundapur, Mar 2: Progressive thinkers expressed anguish against the alleged caste based speech in a college by Team Modi founder Chakravarthi Soolibele who is said to have created communal hatred by being a paid speaker for the last several years. There is also dissatisfaction against the college principal who had invited Soolibele
to speak.

College principal Narayan Shetty had invited Soolibele to give a lecture in a programme on February 25 to offer tribute to martyred soldiers in the Pulwama incident. It is alleged that Soolibele in his speech tried to sow seeds of communal hatred among students by fictitious stories. A video clipping of the speech had gone viral. Like-minded people in Kundapur had called a coordination meeting in Kundapur at Ambedkar Bhavan on Friday, March 1 and expressed their anguish.

Journalist Shashidhar Hemmady termed the speech by Soolibele at Bhandarkar’s College as politically motivated. “If the department does not take action against the principal who allowed the speech, it will be like the college is indirect supporting people who give rise to communal tension,” he said.

Ramakrishna Herle opposed use of college campus as the training camp of political party. “Therefore, we have started a movement by informing the college principal,” he said.

Leaders of various parties expressed their opinions in the meeting. Balakrishna Shetty, H Narasimha, Vinod Crasta, Deepak Navunda, Ramesh Shetty Vakwady, Hussain Haikady, Chandrashekar Shetty, Rajesh Vaderahobali, Chandrashekar Kharvi, Prabhaker Kodi, Ganesh Mandon and others were present.

Who gave this "progressive thinkers" nameplate to them? Themselves carrying this name plate?
It is the decision of the principal who has full power to invite or not invite any ppl whom he thinks fit to address the student community. When Govt itself calls the caste /religion in every application it invites for job or for study why these good for nothing complain about the same. Govt itself divides ppl on cast /religion while giving benifit or dolling out then why these sickular tinkers don't complain?
All nautanki and dombarata by so called "progressive thinkers '

It is always better to avoid controversial figures in college campus. It may include Mr. Soolibele, Mr. Prakashraj etc. College has to decide on that.

This is called home grown terrorism. Soolibele is one such terrorist who injects venom into gullible minds in the guise of nationalism. There are several others who do it This he has been doing with extra enthusiasm in the last 5 years with the tacit support and encouragement of his political masters. All Rational thinking people must reject and condemn it

Bhandarkars collage is one of the prominent and well know collage in the region of coastal Karnataka..
Now .. if you want to invite someone (i.e c. soolibele), in collage there is a committee and It has to decide within the committee whether we should invite or not such thinker, Politician, or any philanthropist, social worker etc..be it any .., and I don’t think it had happen .. !!
And the collage principal alone took this decision .. to whom should invite…
Hope the college campus will not turn it to communal riot…

    Progressive thinkers,

from birth to death, school, college, govt office..... everywhere we need mention our caste/religion. against caste based discrimination in govt. scheme. eventhough one person is very poor & it totally depends on his/her caste to get some benefit from govt. there are lot many cases in which caste decides the benefits/support etc. why there is no concern on that? during election every political party decides its candidate based on his/her caste. our progressive thinker/intellectuals raise voice only selected incidents.
