Belagavi: Anti-India post from close aide of former Congress MLA invites wrath of public

Belagavi, Mar 2: A man from Ramadurga near here posted anti-India slogan in his Facebook account on the background of the release of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman leading to widespread protests by public.

M D Shafi is the person who has posted 'Jai Pakistan Hamara Jai' on his Facebook account. He is the close aide of former Congress MLA Ashok Pattana.

Members from the public who saw this anti-national post on Facebook went directly to Ramadurga police station and gheraoed it urging the police to arrest Shafi. Police tried to pacify the crowd. A tense situation prevailed in the police station for some time.

Many people in the state of Karnataka have been caught reportedly praising Pakistan after the Pulwama attack and the subsequent air strike carried out by Indian Air Force. Police have taken such people in custody and are conducting investigation.
