Kasargod, Mar 2: AICC president Rahul Gandhi will visit Kasaragod on March 12 and meet the families of two youth Congress activists Kripesh and Sharath Lal who were brutally murdered on February 17.

Soon after their brutal killing, Gandhi had phoned the families and assured them that he would visit soon.

Gandhi will land in Mangaluru International Airport and leave to Kasaragod to meet the victims’ families. Later, he will participate in a Congress rally in Kozhikode.

As per preliminary investigations, role of CPM activists has been confirmed in the murder and 7 accused have already been arrested so far. The victims’ families have alleged that CPM has been trying to close the case and hence demanded CBI probe.

Earlier crime branch had taken up investigation of the case. Five days into the investigation, crime branch head Mohammed Rafeeq was removed and another officer was appointed to continue the case, which gave rise to suspicions on CPM’s involvement.
