Mangaluru: Brahmakalashotsava of Sri Rajarajeshwari temple Polali to be held from Mar 4

Mangaluru, Mar 3: Polali Rajarajeshwari temple is one of the most renowned temple in the district of Dakshina Kannada. It has a vast history of over 1500 years. The temple was built by Suratha Maharaja. The idol of Sri Rajarajeshwari is completely moulded from clay, with special medicinal properties. The temple portrays Hindu architecture with roofs adorned with wooden carvings of Gods and copper plates.

The idol of Rajarajeshwari at the temple in the tallest in terms of height of 9.5 foot. The primary deity of the temple is Sri Rajarajeshwari. Along with Sri Rajarajeshwari, Sri Durga Parameshwari, Sri Mahaganapathi, Sri Subramanya, Sri Bhadrakali and other associated deities are also present at Polali Rajarajeshwari temple.



Sri Rajarajeshwari Temple Polali is all set to celebrate its Brahmakalashotsava from March 4 to 13 under the leadership of Polali Subramanya Tantri and the guidance of Bramashri Vedamurthi Kodimajalu Ananthapadmanabha Upadyaya.

Brahamakalashotsava of this temple is conducted every 12 years. But this time around, it is conducted after 15 years due to temple renovation that took almost two years. The temple is completely renovated and developed at a cost of Rs 18 crore, which is now set for 10-day Brahmakalasotsava celebration from March 4. Brahmakalashabhisheka (Consecrating ceremony) will be held on March 13 with Mahapooja, Palla Pooja, Bramhana suhasini aaradhana and other religious rituals.

The installation of Kodi mara (flag pole) that was brought from Sullia is already done by conducting related rituals.

During this celebration, close to eight to ten lac devotees are expected to take part and temple is providing food for all the devotees throughout the 10-day celebration.

The two stages of Sri Durgaparameshwari and Sri Rajarajeshwari, are set up for the cultural events such as Bhajans, instrumental music, folk events, music, dance, Yakshagana, Taalamaddale, Harikathe will be held under the aegis of Chairman of Alva’s Education Trust Dr Mohan Alva.

Offertory procession

The grand offertory procession will be carried out from BC Road to Polali temple on March 5. On March 4, offertory procession will be carried from the regions of Ganjimata and Kaikamba. The offertory procession from the parts of Kundapur, Kollur Mookambika and Udupi Math will be taken out on March 10 and offertory procession from Mangaluru region will be carried out on March 8.

Political and religious leaders to take part

Several religious and political leaders will take part in this celebration including Sri Vidyaprasannna Theertha Swamiji from Subramanya, Sri Mohandas Paramahamsa Swamiji from Manila, Odiyoor Gurudevananda Swamiji, Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji from Pejawar, BJP state president Yeddyurappa, union minister Sadananda Gowda, Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and JD (S) leader Amarnath Shetty.

The Bhrahmakalashotsava Samithi is headed by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Dr Erya Laxmi Narayan Alva, former minister B Ramanath Rai, former MLA Nagraj Shetty, Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik and the Jeernodhara Samithi is headed by B Ramanath Rai.
