Bantwal: Speeding lorry on wrong side hits bike - one killed, another critical

Bantwal, Mar 3: A pillion rider died on the spot after a speeding lorry rammed into his bike here on Sunday, March 3.

The deceased has been identified as Prashanth from Balthila in Kalladka. Yogish from Barimar who was riding suffered severe injuries and has been shifted to Wenlock hospital.

The accident occured near Devasyapadur village, when the duo were heading towards Panathabail. An overspeeding lorry coming from the opposite direction on the wrong side, hit their bike, killing the pillion rider Prashanth on the spot.

Melkar traffic police have registered a case in this regard.

    It is a common feature regarding Lorry and bus drivers. Over speeding in the past also has claimed several Ives. I am sure The Police department is dealing with this matter and taking appropriate action against the erring driver.

    I would recommend that the patient to be taken to the nearest hospital and treated as emergency in order to save a precious life. Then the patient's family can decide if they want the treatment in private or govt. hospitals. If all seriously injured persons are taken so far away by ambulance,there are extremely less chances for survival. One day charge can be paid by family or waived off by private hospitals considering emergency. Jai Hind.

    It's high time RTO should install speed governors on all lorries/tippers. We can't lose so many precious lives due to the negligence of these reckless drivers.
