Mangalore: Six Troupes to Participate in All India Daiji Drama Contest

Mangalore, Feb 13: The much-awaited Daiji Dubai Konkani drama competition will begin on Saturday February 14 at 6 pm at the Don Bosco Hall, Mangalore. Four troupes from Mangalore and one each from Mumbai and Goa will participate in this competition which will conclude on Thursday February 19.
The prizes will be distributed in a ceremony to be held on Sunday February 22 at the same venue. A sum of Rs 1.5 lac will be distributed as prize money to the winners of the competition.
The competition is being held as part of the decennial celebrations of Daiji Dubai, the forum of Konkani writers in the UAE. Several competitions are being held in Mangalore and Dubai as part of its celebrations throughout the year.
Philanthropist and businessman Michael D’Souza, Dubai, is the main sponsor of the drama competition.
The troupes who will participate in the drama competition are as follows:

The first prize is Rs 50,000. First runner-up will get Rs 30,000 and second runner-up will walk away with Rs 20,000.
There will be cash prizes in the best actor, actress, and director categories as well. The first prize will be Rs 5,000, second prize Rs 3,000 and third prize Rs 2,000. Apart from this, all the six playwrights will be given Rs 3,000 each.
Many dignitaries from the Middle East are expected to attend the prize distribution ceremony on Sunday February 22 along with Daiji Dubai office-bearers.
Titus Noronha of Rahul Advertisers is the main co-ordinator of this event in Mangalore along with Melvyn Rodrigues, founder member, Daiji Dubai.
Tickets are priced at Rs 200 (season ticket) for all the six dramas and Rs 50 for individual dramas.
