Mangalore, Feb 13: “All necessary security and preventive measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incidents on V-day”, said Ajay Kumar Singh, director general of police, in the city on Friday February 13.

On an official visit to the city, Singh spoke to the media at the office of the superintendent of police. “All preventive measures have been taken and we are ready to handle any kind of illegal activity. The law is the same for every accused”, he said.

“Technical matters cannot be disclosed”, he said when asked about what kind of measures have been  taken.

He said that the pub attack and other incidents are being treated seriously and the case of the Kerala MLA's daughter is also being investigated. The case wherein a student committed suicide in Kinnigoli, has been transferred to the COD, added Singh.

In answer to a question, Singh said that the police would be interacting with the public in an effort to restore faith in the police system. Open house meetings and other innovative measures will be taken to improve relations with citizens, he added.

Bomb decentralizing equipment will be provided to all ranges in the state and the anti-naxal force will be strengthened, he said. An anti-terrorism squad will also be granted to the state, said Singh.

Singh arrived in the city on the night of Thursday February 12, following which he discussed various issues of coastal security with senior officers including deputy superintendents of police. He also participated in a parade on the police grounds in the morning and distributed cash awards to the police staff for their achievements.
