BJP chief welcomes announcement of poll dates

New Delhi, Mar 10 (IANS); BJP President Amit Shah here on Sunday welcomed the announcement of dates for the Lok Sabha elections and sought another term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a series of tweets, soon after the dates were announced by the Election Commission, Shah said the Modi government had dared to take bold and futuristic decisions for the welfare of 130 crore Indians.

"It has struck at the root of corruption and celebrated honesty. The Modi government will ensure India's giant leap, where everyone will be happy and prosperous," he said.

The BJP chief said India's prestige on world stage in the last five years had been boosted significantly, in turn enhancing the value of Indian passport.

"Our country has emerged as a leading voice in the global fight against terrorism, climate change and black money. Under Modi, India's security and strategic interests have received a strong impetus. Our nation is no longer helpless in the wake of terror attacks. Any force attempting to disturb peace and harmony is being given befitting response. This is a New India," he said.

Shah said initiatives like Jan Dhan, Ujjwala, Mudra Yojana, Ayushman Bharat and Awaas Yojana had ensured a life of dignity for millions of Indians.

"The Modi government's efforts to eliminate poverty have shown transformational results. Under the visionary leadership of Modiji, India has emerged as the fastest growing economy in the world. The NDA government undertook unprecedented reforms, which made doing business in India easier than ever," he said.

Shah urged 130 crore voters to turn out in record numbers to enhance the vibrancy of the electoral process and bless the BJP in the elections.
