Mangalore, Feb 22: The much awaited launch of daijiworld weekly, a venture of Daijiworld Publications Pvt Ltd., was inaugurated today in a glittering ceremony. Businessman Ronald Coloco, who was the Chief Guest, inaugurated the trial issue of the weekly by ceremoniously unveiling the curtain in the function held at Hotel Deepa Comforts, in Mangalore.

Addressing the gathering Coloco called upon the media to maintain neutrality both in politics and religion.  “Media should not be the mouth-piece of any political party or side with any particular religion.  Only then we can live a healthy, peaceful and secular society”, he stated.  He also cautioned the media from glorifying the terrorists and people involved in underworld activities and said “internal terrorists are much more dangerous than external ones.  Media can play a significant role not to venerate such elements which are detrimental to the internal peace and security of this country”.

He also said daijiworld.com has become a major channel of communication and expected daijiworld weekly to continue the good it has begun.  It may be recalled that Colaco has inaugurated the daijidubai.com website eight years ago in Dubai.  It was rechristened as daijiworld.com which has created a revolution of sort in the field of web journalism establishing its own niche in the field in the last eight years.

Guest of honour and MLA U T Khader pointed out that many individuals and organizations have brought glory to Mangalore and daijiworld also belongs to this list of organizations that have brought laurels to this coastal land.  “Today the world has become a global village and daijiworld has created a special place for Mangalore globally”. He also stated that the cultural roots of this land are deeply ingrained for any one to dislodge them easily and called upon youngsters to strive to maintain the culture of the land.

Sudhir P Ghate, Chairman of Magnum Intergrafiks Pvt Limited, who was also the guest of honour pointed out “daijiworld has created a small window through which the Indian Diaspora is able to view news pertaining to their motherland just by opening this window”.

Commending the efforts of daijiworld for starting yet another venture Ghate suggested that the new weekly should be made available in different parts of the world wherever there is readership.  “Print media has tremendous opportunity.  People want to have authentic news and people still believe in print media”. He further added “the biggest challenge for the media today is not gathering news but filtering it so that people are not bombarded with mundane matters”.

Lauding the daijiworld team for their efforts in establishing the link between the NRIs and the coastal region he remarked that Government of Karantaka should honour Walter Nandalike recognizing him for “inventing the small window”.

Editor in Chief of daijiworld.com in his welcome address said “the launching of daijiworld weekly is a dream comes true.  There is no single print media which carries NRI related news from the coastal district.  But we do not want to brand our weekly as NRI-centric.  Our aim is to bridge the link between the west coast and the rest of the world and to reach out to many more people who do not like or don’t have access to internet”.

Editor-in-Chief of daijiworld weekly Hemacharya gave a vote of thanks and assured the gathering that daijiworld weekly will neither be 'left' or 'right' but will be at the centre of needs of the people.

The trial issue of daijiworld weekly was distributed to the august gathering after the ceremonial inauguration of the weekly issue.

In the beginning Anitha Samson rendered the prayer song invoking the blessings of the almighty.  Lesli Rego compered the programme.

Melvyn Rodrigues and Dayan D'Souza, directors were also present on the dais.

I am extremely happy to find that the publishers of Daijiworld have decided to launch a weekly in Mangalore. This is a step in the right direction. I am a regular reader of Daijiworld and my comments appear in a number of their publications. In the photographs I see a number of familiar faces at the launch of the weekly like Ivan D'Souza, Sunil Ghate, Father Mendonca and many more. It is my wish and hope that this weekly paper will find wide circulation with an excellent readership. My good wishes are with DAIJIWOLRD. Joe Gonsalves

Congragulations Daiji team led by Walter Nandalike,Hemacharya on their Inagural Daiji Weekly.May God bless this weekly as long as it brings out the truth, serve the community irrespective of their caste, creed or colour and keep the morality of journalism.Yes you have been a news leader in webportal since your begining and thousands of people, mainly NRI's are visiting Daijiworld daily which bought the home near to them ,has made a difference by adding value to their life, given platform to express our thoughts, feelings and griefs which resulted that all of us have a deeply binding emotional bond with this site.Despite the advent of satellite telivision with over 300 channels available at the press of a button has changed how we Indians entertain ourselves, still DAIJIWORLD is very, very near to our heart. Saying so,I would like to say that-a weekly, specially English Weekly should be more Intelectually oreinted, and to carry a great responsibility to expand the knowledge of important contemporary issues and above all to make a significant contribution to the level and quality of public discourse.I wish our Weekly will maintain the credibility and relevence of the Top Class Journalism and stand up for any good social cause as well as againist any social evil. Once again I wish my heartful best for the Daiji.

Congratulations Daiji Team ! Team Leader Walter Nandalike and Editor in Chief Hemacharya for giving this coastal belt its own English Media. As Mr. Ronald Colaco said try to maintain neutrality though it is a tough task today where media has become a business and at some point or other one has to align with somebody or some thing.

If calling a person DON is Glorification calling a person Criminal too is not neutrality. Today many innocents are either killed in fake encounters or arrested , just dumped in jails and then let off without any evidence. As Making One Crore Business in LIC may not be a news item making business out of news may not be Journalism. ( This Very word was missing Yesterday )

If you are impartial and unbiased in your approach no body can stop you. The need of the hour is a strong secular English Print Media in this region and we have many expectations from Daijiworld Weekly. I endorse Editor in Chief Hemacharya’s observation that Fear is the Most Dangerous enemy of human being and we all live in one or other kind of fear in today’s society. It may be External terrorism or Internal. Or Moral Policing. Upright Media can do its little to eradicate this fear from Society. As Rabindranath Tagore said “ Where the mind is without fear ….” All the Best to TEAM DAIJIWORLD.

This is a beginning of your progressive visions of God to humans to display the truth in your weekly daijiworld. To express and tell a truth that is a truth but to express a lie and to cover a lie thousands of lies to be uttered.

Your vision in a progressive media should bear the truth to lead the readers in a truthful manner and an inspiration of God to humans. May our Lord God bless you abundantly and provide you rains of blessings to you and your flock under his shadow, love and care.
