Mangalore, Feb 25: The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) on Wednesday February 25 witnessed a war of words between the members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress on the case filed against union minister Renuka Choudhury.
The members of the Congress party led by Harinath vented their ire on MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik after he praised former mayor Ganesh Hosabettu for filing a case against Choudhury. They argued that filing a case is not a praiseworthy achievement for a mayor.
The verbal duel continued for a while and seemed about to go out of control. However, members from each party were able to pacify their respective colleagues and the tension subsided.
The congress councilors alleged that Capt Karnik had unnecessarily mentioned the issue in the poll meeting.
MLA N Yogish Bhat, and district-in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar were also present at the meeting.
