Bengaluru, Mar 26: There are some candidates in BJP who are incompetent and people are voting for them just due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity, said BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the house of Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, he said he agrees with the fact that there are incompetent candidates in some constituencies who are being elected as people are voting for Modi.

“BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa and Ananth Kumar are the leaders who built a strong foundation for BJP in the state. Under the guidance of the two capable leaders several have become MLAs, MPs and also union ministers. The late union minister Ananth Kumar has done a lot for the BJP and his wife Tejaswini Ananth Kumar had to be given a chance,” he opined.

He also stressed that Tejaswini Ananth Kumar had never asked for a ticket. “The party leaders had gone to her house and assured her a ticket. However, last minute the ticket was denied to her and this has hurt many party workers,” he said.

“Some people for the sake of ticket are trying to hold the state to ransom. But they will not succeed. Even if they are happy now, the day is not far when they will be disappointed,” he added.
