Bangalore, Mar 2: Nirmala Venkatesh who was sacked by the Union Government from the post of member, National Commission for Women has lashed out by stating that she is a victim of political conspiracy.
Nirmala Venkatesh, member of the NCW who is also a Member of Legislative Council from the Congress party had kick started a major controversy when she in her report of the Mangalore incident had blamed the pub for the incident in which members of the Shriram Sena had assaulted some women.
Union Mininster, Renuka Chaudhary had taken serious note of the incident and had stated that action would be taken against her. On Friday, an order sacking Nirmala was issued by the Union Government.
Addressing media persons in Bangalore on Monday, Nirmala proclaimed that her clean image was being tainted by the government and she was deeply hurt about it. I am hurt and shocked and I am 100 per cent sure that I have been made a victim of political conspiracy, she said. Several attempts by journalists to force her to reveal the names of those ministers who had allegedly hatched a political conspiracy were unsuccessful. Niramala said that she did not wish to take any names at this stage.
She however took on the National Commission for Women and blamed them for deliberately hiding her report in connection with the Mangalore incident. She said that she had sent the report on time, but for some strange reason the NCW decided not to make it public. For some reason or the other, the NCW kept telling the media that I had not sent the report. I fail to understand the logic behind it, she also added.
Regarding the rejection of her report, she said that she stuck by her report and was not planning on changing her stance. However I will not let my efforts go waste and I stand by the report. I will approach the Supreme Court of India challenging the rejection of my report.
Nirmala also announced that she had quit the Congress party formally. The turn of events have upset me no end and I don’t feel like remaining in this party she added. The Congress today has lost a honest and hard worker, she also added. On her future plans, she said that she has not decided anything as yet. I have not taken any decision to join the BJP as yet, Nirmala Venkatesh also added.
