Mangaluru, Mar 30: Chief priest of Talapady Durgaparameshwari Temple, Balakrishna Bhat(84), known as Bangaranna, passed away on Friday,March 29. He was also known as Bangara Bhat.

Balakrishna Bhat had been serving in the temple for the last sixty years.

People said Balakrishna Bhat had a heart like gold and called him as Bangaranna. His recent Ashtama Shanthi programme was held with gaiety. Besides in the temple, he used to devoutly take part in all the local religious programmes. His family members and several of his well-wishers are grieving his death.

He had six sons and a daughter. His daughter Jahnavi had died a few years ago.

Temple president, members, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, minister U T Khader and several have expressed condolences on his death.
