Puttur, Mar 6: Basheer (26), son of Nelyottu Abubakker from Golithadi Sharadanagar in Kadaba died on Thursday afternoon, when the motor bike in which he was travelling got crushed under a tipper transporting crushed rocks.

Basheer had gone to Alanakar for some work. Reportedly, the tipper was trying to overtake another truck at a bend when it hit Basheer, coming from the opposite direction .He died before he could be treated, although arrangements were made to take him to Mangalore immediately. He is survived by wife and two daughters.

Angry locals assaulted the truck driver and he was admitted to a hospital here with some injuries. As Basheer had earlier been working as a driver of a tourist jeep, members of Tourist Jeep Drivers Association stopped plying their vehicles since afternoon as a mark of respect for the deceased.

Really sad. As a bike rider, I feel that we (bikers) should take all precautions because if we hit some vehicle or some vehicle hits us, it is us who are at the receiving end. May Basheer's soul rest in peace and god give his family the strength to overcome this tragedy.
