Mangalore: Assault on Woman - Bus Staff Remanded to Judicial Custody

Mangalore, Mar 9: Driver Santosh and conductor Prasad working for a private bus, who allegedly assaulted a woman and other passengers at Milagres bus stop in the city after the passengers demanded to be dropped at the city railway station as promised by the bus employees earlier on Saturday March 7, were arrested by the policemen and produced in the court.

The arrests were made by the policemen on the night of Saturday March 7. The two face the charge of threatening and beating up passengers Jayachandran Nair and Pushpa after they refused to alight from the bus, with a club and injuring Pushpa. The duo along with other family members, had visited Kollur temple and reportedly, the bus employees had assured that they would be dropped at the railway station here during their return journey. An argument had broken out after the driver asked them to get down at the Milagres stop.

On being presented before the court, the two bus employees were remanded to judicial custody till March 21.
