Mangaluru, Apr 11: The Muhurat for Konkani drama 'Novro' was held at Don Bosco mini hall on Wednesday, April 10. The drama written by legendary writer late A T Lobo is presented by A T Lobo Foundation.

Renowned drama director Arthur Rasquinha presided over the Muhurat function. Celine Lobo, president of A T Lobo Foundation, John Permannur, director of the drama and Melwyn Rodrigues, renowned poet and winner of Central Academy award were present.

Alice Lobo briefed about the past work of A T Lobo Foundation. She said, “A T Lobo Foundation is trying to spread the essence of literary works of A T Lobo among the current generation. Through various programmes, it keeps his name alive in the Konkani world and is paving a way to learn his richness in language and culture. Many support our mission in various ways. We are grateful to them. Last year, we presented Konkani drama ‘Aunkwar Avoi’ which received good response from the audience and drama lovers. Inspired by this, we are now going to present 'Novro' this year.”

Arthur Rasquinha in his presidential address said, “We, the seniors, know much about A T Lobo and his writings. But the current generation is not much aware of his literary works. He authored 15 novels. His literary works 'Bomma' and ‘Hardhyar Khuris’ are one of the most influential literary works in Konkani. I am happy that A T Lobo Foundation, led by his family, is taking his literary works forward to the current generation.

“'Novro' is one of the classic works of A T Lobo. Experienced director John Permannur is presenting it on stage. Definitely, it will be a big hit among drama lovers. I wish all success to the director and actors,” he said.

John Permannur said, “It was a great pleasure and honour for me to direct a drama written by A T Lobo. Last year I directed ‘Aunkwar Avoi’ which was appreciated by many. This year, A T Lobo Foundation has given me the responsibility of directing drama ‘Novro’. I am sure that this drama will also receive outstanding response.”

Celine Sequeira compered the event and rendered the vote of thanks.

The support and help from several artists is a key for success of such programs.

The Director John Permannur has raised the bar in re-playing some of the well known erstwhile AT Lobo written Konkani drama's. John takes time to plan, organize, and direct the very deep thoughts in such traditional drama's and we as Konkani community should support and promote such priceless service of the all artists involved to the society in general, specially Konkani speaking community..

Drama is scheduled for May 26th Sunday at 6PM at Don Bosco Hall. Please mark on your calendars and be there to support the hard work and efforts of all artists.
