Mangalore, Mar 17: In what might be an offshoot of the violence in Puttur, one person was stabbed in Car Street area of the city on the evening of Tuesday March 17, around 10 pm.

The victim Noufal (23) was attacked near Balaji Theatre by unidentified miscreants and has been admitted to a private hospital here.

Up to the time of filing this report, there have been no clues as to the identity or whereabouts of the miscreants involved.

City police accompanied by the District Armed Reserve Police, immediately rushed to the spot and have the situation under control.

Stones were pelted in retaliation to the stabbing incident and a Toyota Qualis car was partially damaged. However there have been no reports of any injuries to anyone.

Daijiworld reporter stationed near Car Street has informed that though the situation is tense in the area, there is a strong police presence which is restoring confidence among residents.

Speaking to Daijiworld, a police official said that the police force is fully prepared to deal with any kind of communal violence that might result. He appealed to people not to cause provocations and to refrain from taking the law into their hands.

No untoward incidents have been reported from elsewhere and the situation remains calm in the city.

I am surprised by the behaviour of the people for fighting in the name of religion. These people let it be from any caste or religion don't know what their religion preaches or teaches, they are ready to die for the religion but are not ready to follow it, Its an fact, Hindu dosent know what his religion says , Muslim don't know what Islam says, or Chirstian dont know what Christianity says.So my request is to everybody instead of fighting each other let's read our holy sricptures and follow them

Muslims without reason will never attack anybody why they threw stones to the returning Hindus from the rally? Even if the truth is known to police they will hide for their survival.

The time is imminent to impose president’s rule in Karnataka and the central must appoint a Police chief like Julio Rebeiro to set right lawlessness.

unfortunate incident. police should take stern action against the miscreants , why administration is not banning communal conference, gathering? which is definitely contributing to culminate the violence. it is not uniting the people but dividing and instilling hatred in the minds of thousands. Govt. should ban all the Utsavas which is targetting to hurt the feelings of any community. sad news is that even govt. ministers are also attending the function? Election commission should keep an eye on every political partys stalwarts who are attending the functions and should disqualify them to contest in the election.
