New Delhi, Apr 13: The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea seeking permission for religious activities to be carried out in nine ancient temples located on the undisputed acquired land adjacent to Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid site at Ayodhya.
"You will never let this country remain in peace. There will always be something," said a bench consisting of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjiv Khanna which heard an appeal filed against the January 10 order of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. It also imposed a cost of Rs 5 lac on the petitioner.
The apex court told petitioner and social activist Pandit Amar Nath Misra not to interfere in the matter. Pandit Misra accused the authorities for having completely ignored religious activities in the ancient temples located on the acquired undisputed land in Ayodhya since the last 25 years.

The apex court had recently appointed a panel of mediators headed by former top court judge Justice F M I Kalifulla for the likely possibility of an amicable settlement pertaining to the land dispute.
Sri Sri Ravishankar spiritual guru and founder of Art of Living foundation and senior advocate Sriram Panchu, renowned mediator, were two other members on the panel of mediators.
The Babri Masjid, constructed at the disputed site in the 16th century by Shia Muslim Mir Baqi was demolished on December 6, 1992.
