Beltangady: Tanker Driver Siphons off Fuel: Elopes with Paramour

Beltangady, Mar 26: Prakash, driver of an oil tanker bound for Secunderabad from Mangalore Refinery and Petro Chemicals Ltd located in Mangalore, has gone missing before reaching the destination. The tanker he was driving was found in an empty condition at Ballupet near Sakleshpur, Hassan. At the same time, a lady named Sheeja from Addahole village, who used to run a tailoring class in Nellyadi near here, who was reportedly close to the missing driver, also has gone missing. It is believed, that the driver along with the said woman, has fled  to a far off place.

The tanker contained the fuel meant for helicopters, costing around Rs 12 lac. It is suspected, that the driver would have sold the fuel at a throw-away price, before escaping with his girl friend. The incident came to light after some truck drivers who found the said empty truck in parked condition at Ballupet, informed its owner, who has filed a complaint with the Suratkal police.

Prakash is already married with two children. Locals say that he had developed closeness with Sheeja (19) since a couple of years. Prakash's wife has filed a missing complaint with Uppinangady police station.
