Gulf-based NRIs offer funds for Jet Airways to fly again

Bengaluru, Apr 24 (IANS): A group of Gulf-based NRIs are ready to raise emergency funding to enable debt-ridden and cash-strapped Jet Airways fly again, said a potential investor on Wednesday.

"We are ready to secure emergency funds from NRIs based in Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Qatar and Gulf investors to meet Jet's operational needs and fly again in 10 days," Saudi-based Gold Tower Group's Chief Executive Mohammed Nagaman Lateef told IANS here.

The Dammam-headquartered Gold Tower Group is a major construction firm in the Arabian kingdom.

The other Gulf-based Indian expats ready to raise fund and invest in the airline are Dubai-based Indian Economic Trade Organisation President Asif Iqbal, Saudi-based Icon World and Sandalwood Director Aftab Khan and Aryan Hospitality and Aleef Aviation Chief Executive Mazhar Nawaz, he said.

"Though I have tweeted on April 19 to Jet's official handle asking its founder-chairman Naresh Goyal and its Chief Executive Vinay Dube to contact me for emergency funding, there is no response yet from either even after five days," said Lateef.

Expressing surprise that a 25-year-old largest private airline with 16,500 employees had to suspend operations since April 17 after a consortium of lenders led by the State Bank of India (SBI) rejected its plea for emergency funding, Lateef said the NRIs and potential investors have no other vested interest than to get Jet off the ground.

"We fail to understand how a successful and profitable airline could suddenly incur losses and accumulate over Rs 8,000 crore debt. What went wrong, how and why. We want Goyal and Dube to explain for due diligence before raising funds," he said.

Alleging that there was a deliberate national or international conspiracy to ground and shut down Jet so that its competitors or rivals, including budget carriers could flourish, Lateef alleged that some vested interests have been working against the airline.

"The game plan was to get Goyal step down from the top executive post. He resigned to save the airline but not to ground it temporarily or permanently," he said.

The NRIs are also keen to know why the SBI backed off from giving the airline contingency funds after assuring them, provided Goyal resigned.

"We are ready to get investors from Qatar and Dubai to bail out Jet from its financial crisis so it could fly high again in the next 240 hours," added Lateef.

    People,

Loss making ventures cannot survive for long on doles by someone...first Jet should create an action plan and show Airline can run with profit...then only investors shows interest...

In India aviation fuel costs highest in the world...Landing fees is highest in the world...regulations are most rigid in the world...Politicians and Civil Aviation officials are most Corrupt in the world...This is the reason most Airlines including Air India are running with heavy loses...

Correct the above issues...and Indian Airlines will run with profit like most airlines...See Tata...opens airlines in Malesia /Singapore not in India...for same reasons folks...

    ...Tak...Takk...

    Alphonse Rodrigues, Udupi,
I totally agree with you! In addition to the mentioned point they should ensure NO FLIGHT DEPARTS with empty seats, that's possible only when they monitor it carefully, in case if they find the flight is not full just 48 hours prior to departure, they should reduce the fare, in order to attract more passengers!

Naresh Goyal and Vinay Dube will not respond to any NRE's willingness to fund the JET air.
My personal opinion is: they will wait till the share will fall less than RS 100, than Adani or Ambani with the help of TWO AND A HALF ministers will buy it by corporate conspiracy, it is purely a game by Corporate Tugs. This is an Aaryan mentality. You south Indians be aware. do not join them, start your own.

Emergency funding is not the answer. That is why Goyal has not responded. Once the emergency fund runs out in a few days or weeks what is the solution then? A long term solution is required.

Kindly provide emergency funding as 9W is an emotion. The most professional airline with best Premiere experience. People are so sad to see Jet grounded . The employees of Jet are the main pillars due to which Jet as a brand is well known of. #JoyOfFlying will be up in the skies. If Jet starts its engines it will be the happiest moment for all. Jet is now a feeling than being merely a brand. Many people have been trying to raise funds in their own way and don't want to see Jet on the ground. Lets all hope Jet flies again !

All business to one state, all businessmen from the same state, all scamsters from there and all politicians from there. Other 28 states just need to pay for the merry making of these guys.
Chaddis will still claim India is developing. Ofcourse they have chaddis on their head cannot see anything.
