Mangaluru: 'Utkarsh' by Institute of Company Secretaries of India gets underway

Mangaluru, Apr 26: Chancellor of NITTE University N Vinay Hegde inaugurated the two-day residential programme 'Utkarsh' organised by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Southern India regional council and Mangaluru chapter here at Hotel Taj Gateway on Friday, April 26.

Addressing the gathering, N Vinay Hegde said, "I am very privileged to be a part of this programme. Industries are facing several problems due to change in laws. I do understand the company secretaries and their responsibilities. As an industrialist, there is huge amount of sacrifice that needs to be done in building nation’s economy. But the way the government looks at us is very harsh. As company secretaries, we should not only find fault in the company but also see what should be done and follow the responsibilities to run the company in perfect legal system."



Central council member Nagendra Rao said, "In today’s era the programme Utkarsh is very apt. This is for the first time that such a programme is being conducted. We, from central council decided to give full-fledged support for this programme. The topics which we addressed will be on present context like GST, NCLT which needs to deliberated, this will definitely enhance the skills in the interest of this topics.

Secretary Southern India regional council Balsubramanium said, "I congratulate the Mangaluru chapter for conducting this programme which is very relevant in the present scenario."

Chairman of ICSI Mangaluru chapter Chethan Nayak welcomed the gathering and Swathi Baliga compered the programme.

During this two-day event, sessions will be held on the topics Changing landscape of financial reporting and governance, Study on goods and service tax compliance and interaction with central council members on April 26.

On April 27, the sessions will be held on Opportunities for professionals in FEMA, NCLT appearance - scope for professionals, compounding of offences and adjudication of penalties and amendments in companies act 2013.
