Mangaluru: Accepting Rs 2.5 lac bribe from college principal - Audit dept officer held

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Apr 27: Lokesh (50), assistant accounts officer in the audit and accounts department of Karnataka government, was nabbed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday April 26 when accepting bribe from the principal of a college. During the raid, the ACB officials recovered Rs 2.50 lac found in the possession of the official.

The principal of the government first grade college at Bettampady, Puttur, is to retire by the end of May this year. He needed audit clearance certificate to claim retirement benefits. Lokesh, it is said, had demanded payment bribe of Rs 2.50 lac in order to issue this certificate. The principal, taken aback by the demand, had approached the ACB with this information.

Under the guidance of ACB officials, the principal promised to pay the bribe as demanded, and asked Lokesh to come to Mangaluru. Lokesh arrived from Bengaluru in his private vehicle and stayed in a hotel at Suratkal. The principal visited the hotel in the afternoon. When the accused was accepting the bribe, the ACB officials raided the spot.

The raid was conducted under the directions of ACB superintendent of police, Uma Prashanth, by inspectors, Yogeesh Kumar B C and Mohan Kottary, with the participation of other staff.

It was reported some time ago in the newspaper that corruption has doubled in the last three years. One reason cited was changing thousand rupee note to two thousand rupee note. We need to thank bearded man in Delhi for this

    the current case is vastly different from the cases you refer to. In all fairness both the giver and the acceptor of the bribes should be prosecuted;
there have recently been a few prosecutions of celebrities in the US for giving bribes to ivy colleges to get admission to their children who would not otherwise been able to get on their own merits, but the acceptor of the bribes = the college administrator involved = was not charged. He or she got to keep the bribe!

It's great to find sincere and genuine officers in many of our government departments like ACB. Curruption is a life time achievement of politicians and SOME government officials. They are worst than mosquitoes which spread malaria, filariasis, or dengue (mosquitoes bite , suck some blood and fly).
But these dirty insects once bite us, suck whole blood from aorta and kill the whole system of society. .
    Mr.Lokesh shame on you....dirty fellow. .!

    @ Prashantha...,

FEKU CA's..., interesting..., I totally agree with you..., but with a rider/correction to enlighten you.., the reality is... when a REAL CA sign a FEKU documents/Certification/BS/FS etc., then FEKU documents become REAL to the whole world to make people/officers/authorities to believe..., That is the power of CA's...,

Remember..., CA Piyush Goelji, CA Suresh Prabhuji etc., got their CA credentials when Congi was ruling/governing Mahan Country called Hindustan....!!!

Get well soon., suggested one bye 2 chai to relax & destress....!!!!

    jh
    jai hind..,

    @ Girisha .....

During Congi regime Hindustan could produce few good CAs like Piyush Goel, Suresh Prabhu, T N Manoharan, Motilal Oswal, if the country was ruled by some good administrator after Independence, the list would have been much more ....
Few countries got Independence after we did, but look at their progress, this is because of good leadership, slaves don't understand .....
If all the real CAs show their power and work honestly, corruption in the country can be curbed drastically .... When Govt. make a rule to stop financial irregularities and tax evading , these real and fake CAs find a way out for corrupt politicians and chor businessman ....

And i am always healthy and happy, treatment needed for those who apply burnol whole day ....

    Bharat Mata ki Jai ....
