Hubballi, Apr 28: Booth level workers of the BJP party have taken to social media and are accusing the party of indulging in family politics with regard to the candidate of the party for the Kundagola assembly by-poll which is vacated because of the death of minister C S Shivalli.

S I Chikkangowda and M R Patil were strong aspirants for the BJP ticket from this constituency. However, the party has offered the ticket to Chikkanagowdru. M R Patil who is upset on not getting the ticket has gone incommunicado.

Reacting to the chaos created by the situation, former CM Jagadish Shettar said that the issue will be resolved. He also said, “Chikkanagowda and M R Patil were strong contenders for the ticket. So the ticket is given to Chikkanagowda who lost with a very low margin in the last assembly elections.

“M R Patil who has relentlessly worked in the constituency also asked for the ticket. But this time around he did not get the ticket.”

Though M R Patil is assured of suitable position in the party administration, he has gone incommunicado to the frustration of the party leaders, who are desperately trying to reach him. Jagadish Shettar says that in another two days we will trace Patil and work together and make the BJP candidate win this by-election.

The BJP workers on the other end have tweeted the matter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and national president of the party Amit Shah and have accused the state BJP leaders of not providing ticket to a candidate who has a good reputation and have urged them to give the ticket to the eligible candidate.

The filing of nomination by S I Chikkanagowda even before the distribution of B form by the party has also irked the booth level workers of BJP. So they have taken the matter to Modi and Amit Shah.
