Bengaluru, Apr 30: As BJP is strict about its "one post, one man" principle, B S Yeddyurappa has supposedly chosen the post of the opposition leader in the Assembly over the State BJP chief. However, sources say that he is trying his best that his close associate Shobha Karandlaje becomes the party’s next chief in Karnataka.

It is said that BJP's national leadership is keen to reconstitute the party's organisational set-up and likely to appoint a young leader as the party's state chief.

Sources say that the former deputy chief minister R Ashok and BJP state general secretary C T Ravi are the strongest contenders for the post.

Meanwhile, BJP state general secretaries Aravind Limbavali, Shobha Karandlaje and MLAs Dr Ashwathnarayana and Aravind Bellad are also eyeing on the post.

The party is most likely to appoint a Vokkaliga leader to break the JD(S) stronghold and gain entry into the old Mysuru region.

Before the entry of Yeddyurappa into the party, Ashok and Ravi both from Vokkaliga community had expressed confidence that they will be appointed as the chief. However, finally the national leadership chose Prahlad Joshi.

Now, with buzz in political circles that the party will get a new chief, the frontrunners seem to have high hopes.
