Mangaluru: Ready to quit politics if MLA Vedavyas proves allegations - J R Lobo

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (TDS)

Mangaluru, May 1: Former Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo refuted Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath’s allegation against him that he is the reason for water scarcity in the city during as he was the director of KUDSEMP. He said that Kamath was making false statements which are baseless and challenged him saying “If the current administration proves that the project related to water, planned in my tenure was below standards, I will quit politics.”

Lobo was addressing the media on Wednesday, May 1.

“I would like to know what MLA Vedavyas has done during his tenure besides holding press meets and blaming me for everything. He should issue statements after having knowledge pertaining to the subject and also should speak truth. The first phase of water project costing Rs 160 crore was implemented with the help ADB. I am ready to leave politics if Kamath proves that there was misuse of funds. Is he ready to resign if the allegations against us are proven wrong?”

Responding to Kamath’s question as to what Congress leaders have done in the council during their tenure, Lobo listed his accomplishments and challenges faced while undertaking multiple projects. Coming down heavily on the opposition for taking credit for his accomplishments, Lobo addressing the media took credit for the Thumbay vented dam project where he said that his government was instrumental in raising the water storage level from 4 meters to 6 meters in the dam. He also took credit for increasing the water supply to Mangaluru city from 80 MLD to 160 MLD.

Lobo also addressed the water shortage problem and said, “The water that enters the city looses 20% due to villages around the supply pipes illegally obtaining that water and another 30% is lost due to leakages in the pipes and other technical issues. Finally only 50% of the water enters the city,"

Lobo said that if the water is well regulated and proper systems are implemented by meeting the village panchayats and working alternatives for them to avail waters and repairing of the pipes, up to 40% of the water lost during the transit could be retained. By this, though 10% of the water loss is unavoidable and by implementing certain strategies, almost 90% of the water could reach the city. Then the city will not have any water shortage.

Congress leaders K Bhaskar Moily, Harinath and others were present.

Why can't the two MLA's ( present & the past) meet face to face for a meeting at Taj Mahal over a coffee to sort our differences. If one is focused for the development of Mangalore, party & political views can be kept aside. People of Mangalore have to wake up..!

    J. R. Lobo knows the city better and what to do to eradicate the water problem. Lobo is well qualified and experienced person to solve the city's problems. He had worked very hard during his tenure to develop the city. Can the present MLA get some funds for sea water desalination plant? Blaming others without any proof is a cowardly act. Do something and show your worth.

Simple ordinary person should not become MLA.
MLA must be dynamic and honest.
After brainy Mangalore people have shown the door, why a person should hang around?

Mr Lobo should not enter into this blame game with our merchant MLA. People had a choice between Mr Lobo, an administrator and Mr Kamath, a merchant. They have chosen the merchant. Now this merchant MLA has to solve people's problems without bringing Lobo into the pitcture.

Mr Lobo had his views and his Tenure. Statistic prove he and every one in his Team did the Job they were elected to do.

Mr Kamath is current in power and clearly did not foresee this crises for appropriate preemptive planning and Measures .

Lets not bring this Blame Game to Our City and work towards a Solution.

I wish JR LObO should have laid the foundation for Desalinisation plant for converting salt water from the sea while permitting Yettihole water upliftment project.

I hope mla Vedavyasa will do something to install a desalination plant, and not instead of criticizing JR.

JR lost the election and received his due to his wrong policies.

Chowkidar cat, Do you know how expensive it is to have a desalination unit. Your Kateel could not have the Pumplwell flyover completed. He made a clown of himself besides the Dollar currency outburst. A classic idiot , who was chosen only because of his religion , Not even a graduate and you tom cat are equally walking his talk. Actually you have no knowledge , elect someone like Nalin , and now a merchant , what a terrible solution. LIke Feku who is blaming the previous Govt, Vedvyas Kamath will go on about the previous Govt.....

We all know how "honestly" and "efficiently" Mr Lobo has implemented projects in Mangalore such as the Pilikula and the KUDCEMP..

JR Lobo ji is an honest and a smart administrator and he did good projects for the benefit of Mangalore south .

In charisma, no body can match Lobo maam as he super honest and a clean personality. Its sad people chose a wrong candidate who only likes to complain like nalin anna.
Lets be honest when we are assessing the good works of political personalities and then comment.

Without JR Lobos efforts in the past, Mangalore would have been dry by now...may be two hours water per week. People failed to understand his efforts and experience and opted for agenda based affiliation! Can anyone explain what benefit sitting MLA provided other than blaming past reps???
