New Delhi, May 3: Dr Chandra Prakash Verma, who was allegedly involved in the murder of Dr Garima Mishra (25) was arrested on Friday from Roorkee in Uttarakhand.

Dr Garima was found dead with her throat slit at her rented accommodation in Ranjit Nagar in central Delhi on Wednesday. The prime suspect, Dr Verma, who lives in an adjacent room in the same building, was absconding since Tuesday night.

The police said Dr Verma was trying to commit suicide by jumping to a canal in Roorkee when they caught him. The police traced him using his call records and WhatsApp activities. Dr Verma has confessed to the killing and will be questioned further in Delhi, the police said.

Dr Garima was an MD aspirant and hailed from Gorakhpur. Her body was found in her room located on the third floor of the building. She had completed her MBBS and was preparing for MD. She had been working as a junior resident doctor at Dr N C Joshi Memorial Hospital in Karol Bagh for the past few months, the police said.

Dr Garima and Dr Verma were both preparing for MD examination and used to attend the same coaching center in Karol Bagh.

News agency IANS quoted the police sources saying, "Chandra Prakash Verma liked Garima Mishra, but she treated him as a good friend. Dr Verma had arguments with her over it and might have killed her in a fit of rage."
