Udupi: Boat tragedy - Pramod Madhwaraj says Navy killed missing fishermen

Umesh Marpalli

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, May 3: “Suvarna Tribhuja fishing boat which sailed from Malpe on December 13 went missing along with seven fishermen in it. Its remains have been found now. The Navy has killed the fishermen,” said former minister of fisheries Pramod Madhwaraj on Friday, May 3, repeating his previous allegation.

Speaking to reporters after holding discussions with the chief minister at Sai Radha Health Resort here, Pramod said that Indian Navy has killed all the seven fishermen. “I had said that earlier and saying it now again. A judicial inquiry should be held to bring out the truth. The inquiry should be held by retired Supreme Court judge,” he urged.

Pramod also released a photo of Suvarna Tribhuja and said the photo explains the damage done to the boat.

“I have already spoken to the chief minister about it. The families of missing fishermen should be paid a minimum compensation of Rs 10 lac each. BJP is indulging in politics on the dead bodies of fishermen. The inquiry should be held holding Indian Navy as responsible in the case,” he demanded.

Even if it was an accident,
Why didn't crew on Naval ship did not try to rescue the fisherman ? They could have saved them all or few.
Why didn't Navy report the incident immediately ?
Even if Navy reported it to the HQ, why did the Govt. hid the facts ???
Why do the Modi govt. take advantage of Pulwama attack when they cannot reveal the fact of “Suvarna Tribhuja incident ???
Modi govt. is good in take the credit for Balkot airstrike for vote bank and even now they are trying to take mileage on the recovery of sunk “Suvarna Tribhuja" ???
What a pathetic state of governance ??????????????????/

    1. Is it same missing swarna tribhuja ? I remember it was newly painted red before new fishing season.
    2. The damage below waterline shows its been hit by a vessel with bulbous bow. War ships generally dont have bulbous bow..
    3. We dont cover up accidents. When our warship hit a unlit fishing boat where 3 fishermen killed , we rescued the lone survivor. And a proper court of enquary conducted in this matter.
    4. When initially i pointed out that there can be hit by merchant vessel , someone from Mangalore questioned my knowledge in this matter.

Empting ocean of all the fish very quickly is not competency. We have to leave some for future generations. That is what Japan and others are doing in international waters. If you call them you will lose all your fish (they cone to make money not to give charity) and the poor fishermen have nothing.

Do not type nonesense. It was a incident because of piracy. The Marines were private contractor engaged on vessels passing through Indian ocean to prevent pirates from Somalia. Fishermen in coast of India have a tendency to come close to the larger marine vessels to protect their nets. They do not have any means of marking their nets. Since the kept on appraoching the vessel they were shot at. I understand you are a bhakt. Do not poke your nose in things u have no knowledge in.

Centre is well aware of this situation as well as the navy and all investigation agencies. Why centre is not initiating an investigation through NIA and navy after so many months of this incident and keeping the afflicted family members in pain and suspension????. It's centre's responsibility but it is playing with lives of the family members of the dead. These family members have even gone to Delhi to meet Modi and have expressed thier tragedy to him but Modi has given a cold shoulder to them.

I don't think that Navy has violated the protocol by unreporting , higher ups in Navy must have been reported of the mishap if any, but armed forces don't go to the press own their own. Considering the poll environment, it's obvious that the government has suppressed the information. And you know very well our PM's nature is only to take credit, due or otherwise, but never render an apology, be it deaths resulted in demonetization or intelligence failure in Pulwama ... just to name a couple.

Let the impartial investigations happen and truth come out.

Do not become a judge and give judgement even before complete evidences comes out and investigation concludes.

Also it is highly shame on these politicians to see these type of incidents in political limelight and create confusion.

It is highly premature to conclude a professional navy as guilty even before investigation starts.

    People,

Indian Navy hit the Fishing boat and sank it...makes sense ...and I predicted this the day 'Bobborya' predicted something else....this is not surprise to me...

What surprises me...Indian Navy not reporting the accident immediately....What sort of training we give to our Navy???....Same thing happened when Suicide Bomber in Pulwama following CRPF convoy to find a strategic spot to cause maximum damage...our CRPF guys were giving him signal by hand like bus drivers to stay away!!!...again poor training...

Also sending IAF MIG21 ( 1965 model) fighter to have a dog fight with Paki F-16 is another stupid decision....problem is nobody points it out ... and we will repeat it with same consequences...

Rajnut is Home Minister and Nirmala is our Defense Minister...we deserve better than these Modiji...in your second term...Make Subbu Swamy as Defense Minister...so we can have one more 'Dog Fight' with Pookis...

    ...Tak...Takk...

So it's the lack of naval training in a developing country? How about that US submarine USSGreenseville that 'accidentally' hit Japanese school fishing training boat that killed 9 Japanese aboard? And this is not the last mishap, there have been many in the developed world too. Accidents do happen, but what's condemnable here is the delay exercised by the government to reveal the truth until the election got over.
