Mangaluru, May 5: Managing director of Srinivasa Farms and vice-chairman of the International Egg Commission, Suresh Rayudu Chitturi inaugurated 'Just Meat’, a modern meat retail store, a unit of GC Farms at Bendorewell in the city on Sunday, May 5.
Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Rayudu Chitturi said, “I am really impressed with the store that has a beautiful setup. It has been a professional store and this is the need of the hour now as people are looking for hygienic product and even government is speaking about public hygiene. So such kind of set up is very important and apt. For the customers, the quality of product matters the most. Congratulations to the team for having such a unit in Mangaluru.”
Partner of Just Meat, Srinath K K said, "If you look at the store, it personifies hygiene, cleanliness and quality, which is not available in the market. We thought that there is opportunity for this market in the city of Mangaluru. It is hard to trace the source of over 90% of the meat that is sold in India. The advantage of this store is that we have put up the certification saying where we are slaughtering the meat. Traceability is the key aspect. If any customer comes to us later, we will give option of bar coding the meat as well. Traceability will give confidence to the customer.”

The store is poised to connect the modern day consumer with the meat that meets the basic needs of hygiene and quality.
They have directed their efforts over the past year in putting together a supply chain system and conducting research on the best possible practices for butchering and sourcing the best meat at a competitive price.
The brand is committed to bring about a turnaround in the Meat retailing space. Stats show that in, India 90% of the meat gets sold in an unprocessed manner as opposed to 10% which is sold in a processed manner. This makes it difficult to track the source and maintain hygiene.
The products that are available in Just Meat store are Boneless cubes, Neck slice, Rib Chops, Mince, Shank (Nalli), Paya, Mixed Cut, Shoulder cut/Leg cubes, Centre slice/Leg steak, Mutton Marinated, Burger Patty, Seek and Meat Balls.
Justmeat is the retail wing of GC Farms, which is a young and dynamic organization headquartered in Coorg with the intention of taking the best produce from the region to the consumers in Dakshina Kannada and North Malabar .
They intend to Expand to a larger portfolio of products including fish and country chicken and other value added products to their portfolio.
They are also looking forward to set up five more outlets in Mangaluru under the JustMeat Brand.
