Dammam: Fraternity Forum Holds Workshop on Labor Law

Dammam, APr 7: “Never stop working or strike during routine activities even if you have complaints against the sponsor. Approach the labor office and submit your complaints and proceed only according to the directives of the labor officials”, the prominent Indian social and community welfare activists advised to the community during a get-together and workshop organized by India Fraternity Forum, Dammam chapter at Nahda club auditorium.

“As housemaids and house drivers are not coming under the Labor Law at present, they can approach the Ameer office to present their grievances”. Many such advises and suggestions were given to the Indian community. The workshop was intended for Indian Voluntary Social workers to provide guidelines for various activities.

The forum honoured Mohammed Khilir as the Best Voluntary Social worker for the year 2008 for his exemplary service in the field of humanitarian and welfare issues to the community. E K Mohammed Shafi, principal, International Indian School, Dammam presented memento to Mohammed Khilir, who is an employee at Dammam Medical Complex.

Mohammed Najathi, Translator at Shariah Court explained the Labor Law of Saudi Arabia. He advised to enlighten fellow Indians to abide by the rules and regulations of the host nation and to strive hard to improve the image of the Indian expatriate community by distancing from anti-social activities.

P A M Haris, correspondent of Malayalam news daily based in Dammam explained the formalities to be done for the victims of accidents, and at the time of natural or un-natural deaths. His visualized demonstration with copies of various documents was well appreciated by the audience.  A panel consisting of Messrs Hamza Kondotty, Khilir Mohammed and P A M Haris replied to the questions raised from the audience.

Engineer Mohammed Amin (Jubail) presented the topic ‘Transactional Analysis, which was inevitable for the voluntary workers while meeting with people of different attitudes and temperaments. About 250 voluntary workers from different walks of life attended the workshop. Moosa Kutty Kondotty, coordinator of Fraternity Forum Presided over the function. The Forum president Muhammed Waheed Hyderbad thanked welfare section of the Embassy of India for their guidance. Abdul Ali welcomed the gathering and Abdul Salam proposed vote of Thanks. Program Convener Nameer Cheruvadi, Zubair Narath, Husain Manakkadavu and Majeed Kuttiady were the organizers of the program. Ameco travel agency and Bahrain air was the official sponsors of the event.
