Kundapur, May 10: A hit-and-run accident on national highway 66 at Maravanthe near here on Friday May 10 claimed the life of a pedestrian.

The deceased, Kuldeep Kumar, a native of Jammu and Kashmir, was hit by a car that was later identified as Maruti Brezza.

Kuldeep, a lorry driver by profession, had come to Maravanthe to transport goods. On Friday, he parked his lorry by the roadside and was about to cross the road when a car coming from Kundapur and going towards Bhatkal rammed into him and sped away.

Gangolli 'Jeeva Rakshaka' ambulance immediately came to the spot and rushed Kuldeep to a hospital in Kundapur, where he was given first aid. He was then taken to Manipal for further treatment, but he passed away on the way.

The body was shifted to the morgue at Manipal hospital.

Gangolli police have registered a case.

Soon after the accident, eyewitnesses gave detailed description of the car to the Gangolli police, who in turn informed Byndoor police. The Byndoor police swung into action and managed to waylay the Brezza car which was moving at a high speed. The police seized the car and identified the owner as Mohammed Ghaus Hasan. A case has been registered against the person who was driving the car.

First it was kuldeep's mistake as the driver didn't come and hit him on the footpath.
Drivers mistake was that he sped away without stopping.

He should have surrendered at the police station voluntarily.

Man hit by a car given first aid in Kundapur
and taken by ambulance to Manipal, and he is dead upon arrival!

This is the most backward class medical assistance by any measure.
Kundapur to Malpe is more than 45Km or a 45 minute drive, so why
take an injured person to an ER to Manipal, Why can't the Udupi
District governance build a good hospital in Kundapur, so that lives
can be saved - time is very critical for life and death - and the local
bodies governing Kundapur and Udupi District should seriously
    look into this matter,

Pls hang the driver, nothing else is needed. Just hang him. Killing someone and running away is double the crime, such people don't deserve to live. They will only run over more people
