Mangaluru: 'Daiva Patri' assaulted, hair cut off by group over alleged 'gay sex'

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, May 12: A 'Daiva Patri' was manhandled and his hair cut off forcibly by a group of people including women who alleged that he had indulged in 'homosexual activity'.

The incident was reported at Bikarnakatte in the city. Videos and pictures of the incident have gone viral on social media.

In the video, a group of people are seen questioning Lokesh Poojary, the 'Daiva Patri', near a ground where some event was held. Lokesh is repeatedly thrashed by the group. The video also shows some people in the group demanding him to apologise. The group is also seen forcibly removing his 'Parti bangle' and chopping off his hair.

The assault on the Daiva Patri invoked anger among people on social media. Many expressed their ire against the group for thrashing Lokesh, pointing out that no one has the right to take law into one's hands and manhandle anyone for any reason. Others expressed displeasure at the removal of the Patri bangle and cutting off of the hair. They commented that it was an insult to the 'Daiva' and it could not be tolerated.

There is no confirmation on whether a complaint would be filed in the police station.

This act by peoples gathering, shaming and abusing is so incorrect. Has this person created any torture or pain to anyone? Has he stole anything? Has he harmed anyone by any means? whatever wrong he's doing, we have no rights to trash someone or shame someone nor abuse. this is not only physical abuse but also lot of mental/ psychological trauma. We must respect each other and understand each-others views and opinions. This is really another sad incident, and we must stop such harming. No one has right to touch another person without one's concerns.

Have anyone above commented against the people who have insulted our security forces , injured them, beaten up, thrashed like animals. We are unable to tolerate a single person insulted here. May our security forces hold themselves while on duty. Let us give the armed forces liberty to act against those people who insult them.

Just because he’s a Darshana patri promoting some superstition as a professional does not mean that his constitutional rights are ablated. Even if he is gay as long his activities are confined to private places and with consenting partners are not criminal offences. No one has the right to beat him up. If it with minor children which is a criminal offence he can behanded over to the police to be prosecuted.

Really very sad. Why society is not accepting "gays"? What is their fault, if they are born that way? We should blame god or his parents but not them. Everyone cannot get attracted towards girls.. All girls cannot get attraced towards boys. There are so many cases, by force if you get them married, marriage won't be successful at all. Like us, they too are normal..transgenders are other group...lets accept them and allow them to grow like us.. We can say we are normal... But they are saying they are normal.. As one of the gentlemen rightly commented here saying, if gay people use a person by force or against his will, bring it to the notice of the police.. Don't behave inhumanly this way... Very sad..may he gain mental peace and may he come out from the side effects of this heinous tragedy as early as possible...

What nonsense, how can you blame God for someone's mental sickness.
If God has made such then He would not have called homosexuality a sin and punished people of LUT, which is also mentioned in Bible as well Quran, the story of Prophet Lut (peace be upon him)

Kindly don't blame God for human Sins

AHMED, your knowledge about Homosexuality is very poor. Please do some research online or read some reputed books not religious books. Also do you know homosexuality exists among other species as well like Penguins, Dolphins etc.

Blaming God is blasphemy. God is good all the time
Every abnormality is the result of sin. Because of our ignorant of the Truth we give in to tendencies and make it a lifestyle and call it normal. All of us are born with a sin nature . Some towards lying, others towards stealing. Killing extramarital affairs and similar sins. Just the tendency toward it is not a sin , but acting upon it becomes a sin and then on we become slaves to it. All of us are trying to fill the God shaped hole in our heart through indulgence in some fleeting stuff. The moment we realize it, we are set free. Once we find Jesus to fill in the void, we become whole again Am talking from experience

These gangsters have NOT SINNED? If theses GOONS are allowed to take LAW into their HANDS and
dispense STREET PUNISHMENT why do we need POLICE??
These ROWDIES MUST BE PUNISHED THE SAME WAY - so they will never forget the bitterness for
    life!
What good example did these goondas set for others? None of them were subjected to gay sex - why
then take the LAW into their hands?
I hope someone in the PARTY will take courage and make a POLICE REPORT with as many NAMES
(of those goondas) possible - the pictures don't LIE!
Feel SORRY for the POOR DAIVA PAATRU - my prayers at KATEEL with a gift to DEVI.

Find it horrible to catch hold of someone and do things like with a wild animal. Not even with animals manhandle them. Why noone then informed police during this process? Were all enjoying ones pain and aches?please do have tolerance with person whether he is a gay or not.Did he do any harm to soceity or personally? Then inform Police but not take things ,law in own hand. One should think self in that position ,whether you like it or not.Everyone is not like the other. What is this bangle mean?Todays world we need only tolerance towards our next one .when he indulged in gay sex,its not your business to control him.He is adult enough.
