Puttur: Aged couple driven out of home by children, house demolished

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, May 13: An aged couple has accused three among their nine children of driving them out of their home forcibly and then demolishing the house by employing a backhoe. The incident happened at Beetige in Kedila village in the taluk.

Mohammed (75), resident of R K Manzil at Beetige, Kedila village, and his wife, Khateejamma (72) were the ones who were kicked out by their own children. Both have suffered injuries. They are undergoing treatment at the government hospital here.

Mohammed said that he and his wife live in their house built in a land measuring 22 cents at Beetige. "My four sons and five daughters have been living separately after their marriages. I and my wife are the only ones to live at our home at Beetige. I went to Nandila, where the father-in-law of my second son, Ismail, resides, to attend the marriage ceremony of his daughter on April 6.   We returned to our home at Beetige on May 10. We requested our son, Ismail, to take care of us as we have become old. He accepted, dropped us off at our home and returned, duly promising to come back in the evening.

"After he left, my third son, Tajuddin, who lives at Budoli, his wife, Yasira, fourth son, Samshuddin who lives at Kabaka and his wife, Fatima,   second daughter, Aisamma and her husband, Mohammed, and my daughter's son, Haris, suddenly came to our home in two cars and a motor bike. Without giving any advance intimation, they began to demolish our home with the help of a backhoe. Me and my wife stayed put inside the house and refused to budge from there. They forcibly dragged us out, and placed us under a coconut tree. They then demolished our home with the backhoe. After I conveyed this information to my second son, Ismail, he informed the police. The police then came to the spot and stopped the backhoe from undertaking demolition further," he said in the complaint.

Mohammed said that he and his wife were injured when they were dragged out of their home, and that they have got admitted into hospital for treatment. Police personnel of the town station here visited the injured couple and collected information from them. Ismail has claimed that his brothers had committed this act as they want share in the land.

My parents had 10 children. My father never handed over the property to any of his children until he died despite pressure. He used to say in Konkani " Mortha munasar shendi mujea hanthanth asazai." (He wanted to take control until his death) I think he was smart.

Does any Religion teach to do this? Children must provide special care during their old age. Sons who honor their Father are like Gems & Daughters are a Blessing. Let no curse fall upon the Children?

2 POINTS I WOULD LIKE TO RAISE HERE.

    1. TWO OR MAXIMUM 3 CHILDREN ARE GOOD AND ENOUGH
    2. NEVER BUILT SOMETHING WITH BROTHERS SHARE. NO MATTER HOW CLOSE AND BONDING YOU HAVE WITH YOUR BROTHER. BUILT YOUR OWN HOUSE IF YOU CAN OR ELSE RENT A HOUSE. I HAVE SEEN BEST OF THE BEST BROTHERS ARE FIGHTING FOR THEIR SHARE.

If parents give too much freedom for their children at first, this is what happens in the end..
Very sad on hearing this...We have seen all these in movies... Once they get married they forget their own parents.
    Those childrens should be punished..

Their blessed deed in the holy month of Ramadan has added up. They will reap what they saw. "
Your Lord had decreed, that you worship none save Him, and (that you show) kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age with you, say not "Fie"(uff) unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word. And lower unto them the wing of submission through mercy, and say: My Lord! Have mercy on them both, as they did care for me when I was young." [Quran 17:23-24]

Charity begins at home, not to the place of worship. This is Holy month of Ramadan. Only this old man and woman, knows how they have treated their old parents.

The greatest provision in the world for a man is a righteous wife. I know a lot of woman brainwash husband with regards to his parents so man must look for righteous ,pious wife when he plans to marry and give less important to look, status etc which fades years on.

Remains to be seen if the other missing members of the family will come down to sort out the "mess" or will things aggravate further needs to be seen. One needs to figure out where the saga of incidents transpired before jumping into any conclusion. Time will tell what led to the sudden bevioural change. This behavior is more rampant in coastal areas unlike the suburbs mainly due to internal strife or allied matters.

Only 9 children. As much as I sympathize with these old folks, they should be reminded that having 9 children, though not a crime is criminal in a sense of belonging. Children especially when small & as teenagers, need prime time with & from their parents. Just having kids to increase your kith & kin does not serve any purpose. The kids are ignored, used & abused & most of the time are influenced by nefarious characters. When they grow up they have no affection for their parents as none was shown to them when they needed it most.

It is the duty of the police to take action if FIR is filed. Also I think now there is a law obliging children to take care of their aged parents, which should be applied in this case.
