BJP to form full majority government: Modi in first press conference

New Delhi, May 17 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed confidence that the BJP will again get a full majority on its own in the Lok Sabha elections, and it would be the "first instance of a party getting an absolute majority after a full term".

"My overall thinking is that a full majority government will be formed again after winning the Lok Sabha elections. It is going to happen for the first time. This is the big thing in itself," Modi told media persons at the BJP headquarters here.

This is also the first time that the elections are fought on the basis of pre-decided plan and the government is formed, he added.

The Prime Minister's announcement came two days ahead of the final phase of the staggered Lok Sabha battle, and less than a week before votes are counted.

Modi also contended that the earlier governments were "formed on the basis of circumstances".

"Either those governments got majority because of any dynastic tradition or any other reason. But it happened for the first time in 2014 when public made the decision to give full majority to another party. The second opportunity is being given again in 2019."

Analysis should be done on this matter, the Prime Minister told media persons.

Noting that there has been very "satisfying experience" for him in this election, Modi said he had made a firm decision when he began campaigning in this election and has been maintaining the same principle.

He said he went to the public in this election campaign only to thank people for supporting him during his five year tenure.

"My campaign in this election has been a thanksgiving campaign for the support given to me by the people. I expressed thank to everyone wherever I could reach during my campaign.

"I also sought people's support and their blessings to continue the journey of honesty. Now I am seeing the people giving their blessings to me more than that they offered me in 2014."

He said that he began the journey of "honesty" on May 17, 2014, a day after the results of the Lok Sabha elections were declared then.

"At that time, a huge casualty was seen among the betting syndicate. The syndicate suffered losses in crores. It was the beginning of honesty. It began on May 17 before I took the oath as a Prime Minister... because the betting had been run for Congress's 150 seats and BJP's 218 seats. At that time, the betting syndicate suffered a huge loss."

Looks like Narendra Modi will not come to power , He will need help from smaller parties . I am not sure whether TRS YSR Congress TMC SP BSP will support him. Unless he gets good support from these parties it will be hard for BJP or even NDA to make a goverment. I feel Modi knows this and its evident from his speech. Modi has made mistakes. I feel he tried too much to win elections which perhaps might backfire. BJP must give up their hidutwa idea and look forward and develop the nation I am sure India needs a change now May be its Rahulji now Rahul is the only saviour for India

Give one simple reason that people should vote you to full majority???. Will people vote you for torturing them for the past 5 years in one form or other????. You did not even spell out once your plan, manifesto and plan of action for people and development in your election speech othere than your usual gutter class mudslinging on congress. Majority of Indian are of the opinion to defeat and get rid of you.
