New Delhi, May 24: Losing the Lok Sabha elections from Amethi being one of the biggest setbacks of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Congress continues to be victim of social media attacks, especially on Twitter. Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu had earlier promised that he would quit politics if Congress president Rahul Gandhi lost elections from Amethi.
Now twitteratis are asking Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu to keep his word and resign since Rahul Gandhi lost Amethi constituency by a margin of over 50,000 votes.
The row on twitter began after Smriti Irani stretched her lead. One person tweeted, "As Smriti Irani is leading with 28,000 votes in Amethi..Indian politics will miss the services of Navjot Singh Sidhu.."
"Navjot Singh Sidhu ji start typing your letter to quit politics, it'll be a good riddance.." tweeted another person.

Making fun of Sidhu’s earlier comment one tweeted, "Hello @sherryontopp I will quit politics, if Rahul Gandhi loses #Amethi packing bags ???? World Cup is around and u speak good."
"I know he is man of his words...now leave," tweeted another.
Taunting continued and one quoted a song and said, "Mr. @sherryontopp when you are going to quit politics ? PS: Waada kiya toh nibhana padde ga."
Meanwhile, the Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh also criticized Sidhu for damaging the Congress prospects with his ill-timed comments and 'hugs'.
