Came to Udupi with two bags, thankful to Kannadigas for love and respect: Annamalai

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 28: Deputy commissioner of police (Bengaluru South) K Annamalai, popularly called as the 'Singham' of Karnataka, on Tuesday May 28 submitted his resignation to Indian Police Service.

Speaking to the media, he clarified that he has not tendered his resignation under any political pressure and has done it at his own will after contemplating on it for about a year.

"I have not yet decided whether I want to pursue politics and plan to go on the path that God shows me," he said.

Praising the people of Karnataka, he said he has been showered with love and respect.

"People here are very nice and helpful. Though I did not know the language, the people did not treat me like an outsider. I remember the first time I joined service (first posting) - I had got down at Udupi bus depot with two bags in my hand. From that point till now, people of Karnataka have looked after me well. I also had a good experience in the department and got to work with good officers," he said.

"I am a simple man and I am very proud of the people of Karnataka," he said.

He also praised politicians for giving him freedom. "It is chief minister H D Kumaraswamy that got me till here and Siddaramaiah has given me his support. It is because of them that I was able to do my duty well. I will miss the people of Udupi and Karkala. I had decided to tender my resignation before the Lok Sabha polls but then decided to do it post the polls," he said.

He also spoke on the need to look into the welfare of police constables. "They need to be looked after well and given good salaries. The work they do is very important," he said.

He also said that one of the reasons he tendered his resignation was to give time to his family. "My father looked after me well and I intend to do the same for my son."

Asked about his future plans, Annamalai said he has not decided anything. "I intend to take a four month break. I am also writing a book on youth welfare. I will give more time for my family. I have not decided on joining politics but will take up opportunities that come my way," he said.

He is wise enough to decide which political party to join and support. So guys please leave it to him and don't worry. Some of the commentators here are worried if he is going to join BJP and make it further strong.I think in the interest of the nation we must encourage good people to join nationalist party and make it further good.

Mr. Annamalai is usually clear in his directions and thoughts. But the statement that he came with 2 bags to Udupi is confusing.
Did more bags came later on.
Is he going back more than 2 bags
Or, is going back with 2 bags again or no bags.
    very confusing.
He will do well in his new profession as he is with the spirit. He is the chosen one.

We are not happy with your decision to quit the police force but it is your choice. I have met you in your office in Udupi as an SP. You helped me in every way as possible. My nephew Vijay Kumar Maben was also a employee there also guided for our formalities to go to other countries. But now since we have a OCI card, we are free to travel India and so many countries in the world without applying for a visa.
