Country's security, people's welfare key priorities of Modi govt: Home minister Amit Shah

New Delhi, Jun 1 (Agencies): Newly appointed union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday June 1 said that the Narendra Modi-led NDA government's top priorities would be the country's security and welfare of the people.

Assuming charge of his office on Saturday, Amit Shah, who took oath as a union minister for the first time on May 30 along with PM Modi and other ministers, also said he would try his best to implement the above priorities.

"Country's security and people's welfare are the Modi government's priorities. Under the leadership of Modi, I will try my best to fulfill all these priorities," he tweeted after assuming the charge.

Shah also thanked PM Modi for bestowing him the responsibility of the sensitive ministry. "Today, I have taken the charge as India's Home Minister. I am thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reposing faith in me," he said.

Shah was received at the North Block office of the home ministry by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Intelligence Bureau Chief Rajiv Jain and other senior officials. Two newly appointed ministers of state for home - G K Reddy and Nityananda Rai - also took charge Saturday. Shah took charge two days after he was sworn-in following a landslide victory of the BJP-led NDA.

A home ministry official said Shah is expected to prioritise the NDA government's policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and checking illegal immigration. The new Home Minister's immediate task would be handling the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, which is under the President's rule, and situation which may arise after the publication of the final National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.

The BJP-led NDA has received a landslide mandate in the recently-concluded Lok Sabha elections with the saffron party winning 303 of the 542 seats that went to polls. Shah was the key architect of the BJP's victory as the party president. Kerala Governor P Sathasivam and Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao were among the first who made courtesy calls on the Home Minister.

PM Modi’s new ministry including Home Minister Amit Shah is among 22 ministers against whom there are pending criminal cases, states a report compiled by Association for Democratic Reform (ADR).
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has four criminal cases pending against him, Giriraj Singh six while Pratap Sarangi from Odisha has seven pending cases.
Modi’s new minister Pratap Chandra Sarangi was state coordinator of militant body Bajrang Dal when Graham Staines was burnt alive with two children.
All it takes to fool people these days is a thatched home, white kurta-pajama, and a bicycle. Pratap Sarangi who was only known to the Sangh Parivar in Odisha till last week has suddenly become a media sensation after it was reported that he was leaving his hut wearing seemingly old clothes with very few belongings to take an oath.
Dara Singh of Bajrang Dal had burnt alive Graham Staine & his two minor sons in 1999 in the middle of the night while they were sleeping inside a Jeep- His coordinator was Pratap Sarangi, who is now Modi’s only minister from Odisha!

Jesus said, Those who live by the sword, die by the sword. They will get their "reward" for the blood stained hands. If they don't, then there is no point in believing in ANY religion. Karma is a Circle. What goes around, comes around.
