Bangalore: Slipper Flung at Yeddyurappa at BJP Conference at Chenraypatna

Bangalore: Slipper Flung at Yeddyurappa at BJP Conference at Chenraypatna

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (GA)

Bangalore, Apr 28: What's common between George Bush, P Chidambaram, Manmohan Singh, Advani and Yeddyurappa? It’s nothing but shoe. Strange but true! Nothing but only shoe makes them birds of the same feather. Cutting across the party lines, shoe brigade has become a fashion these days, and state chief minister B S Yeddyurappa is the latest target.

Yeddyurappa was addressing the gathering at BJP workers conference at Chenraypatna in Hassan district when a man from the crowd hurled a slipper towards the dais. However, the slipper missed its target and fell short of the dais.

The police immediately surrounded the accused and arrested him. He has been identified as Chandrashekar from Holenarasipur. He is said to be a JD (S) activist. Sources also said that he shouted 'Deve Gowda ki Jai' before hurling the slipper.

Yeddyurappa however, seems to have taken the issue seriously, and why not? He is the chief minister of the state and doesn't deserve this kind of treatment even if there is some real problem. There are ways to address issues, said a BJP worker while speaking to this correspondent over the phone.

The chief minister has asked the police to arrest Chandrashekhar and register case against him. Yeddyurappa later said that hurling shoe has become a fashion of recent. "This is indeed a bad and negative development which needs to be nipped in the bud itself," he said.

Mr Srinivas/India. A very good question. First of all dont get swept away by the malicious propoganda and lie compaign by the BJP. Secondly why do we need reservations. We dont need reservation. I support you on this. Reservation if at all is to be given must be given to economically backward section of the society and not on the basis of religion. FYI, it is not minorities alone enjoying the reservation, the major share of the cake goes to ST/SC and Dalits, who are your own hindu brothers. But unforutunately these SC/ST started getting educated and move upward economically and started questioning their social status and realised that all these years they are oppressed and exploited by upper caste hindus, the manu vadis started realising that no more they can enjoy the privilige and respect as an upper caste hindu, so RSS whose think tank is brahmins, started this drama and movement of scrapping reservation to all. That means, RSS doesnt want the abolition of caste system and they still want to oppress the shudras in the name of birth and religion. Thirdly, your question of uniform code of law to all sections of society. Yes my brother, this is again RSS plot and they want to implement manu culture so that brahmins can whip dalits and enjoy dalit women at their will. Now coming to muslims, we do have personal law which we follow in India the source of which is Holy Quran and the law is devine. We muslims follow this law only in civil matters like marriage, divorce and inheritance and that two amongst muslims. Even when a marriage is solemnised between hindu and muslim, then the law of the land is supreme and is followed. When it comes to criminal or national matters, then the national law is applied and when its a matter of dispute between a muslim and non muslim, then the matter is decided in the light of Indian Law. No where it is written in the Indian constitution or penal code how a hindu marriage is solemnized. Even in hindu society, different ways are there to celebrate the marriage. Again, when it comes to criminal matter, no muslim is outside the perview of Indian Law. I have not heard about a muslim killer or criminal tried under islamic law in India. Even the worst killer Ajmal Kasab is being tried under Indian Penal Code and Islamic law is not applied. If Islamic law is applied, the trial would have ended by now and Ajmal Kasab must have been hanged and finished with. My friend, this is nothing but RSS propaganda. They dont beleive in Indian constitution which givses equal right to all its citizesn. They dont like BR Ambedkar, who is a dalit who has hijacked brahmin supremacy and gave equal rights to Indian citizens. Truth is always bitter and difficult to digest. This is the same RSS organisation which has masterminded the killing of Gandhi and when killed rejoiced and celebrated. BJP just implements RSS agenda, an agenda of hate, division and brahmin supremacy. They keep on founding lies against others. The use all their resourc

Manjunatha Bangera, I agree with you every culprit should be punished then only people will abide the law. However, this slipper throwing incident was done due to frustration and the CM represents Karnataka he should have accepted the verdict as people’s verdict and continue to address the BJP workers party. He should have been generous to forgive Chandrashekar so this incident would have given him some political mileage instead now people of Karnataka understood the real Yediurappa.

Madhav Nayak, why are you so p.. off when someone from the minority community comments against BJP? Does the BJP pay for your day-to-day expenses? Before terming minorities as anti-national, just retrospect and see as who were the ones who sided with British.

What was the role played by your RSS in Independence struggle? They were supporting British Raj. Today you guys claim to be patriots as if patriotism is your patriachal right. Who killed Gandhiji? Who were the ones fond of Nazi ideals and Hitler''s ideologies? Who are still wearing Nazi cheddis? (khaki short pants.

You guys have systematically derailed the Indian democracy. Forget about secularism and communalism. I am talking about democracy. Is there democratic set up in any of the Sangh Parivar organizations including BJP? How tolerant and cosiderable are with the women folk? You still believe in Manu Code and would be happy to initiate it instead of our Constituency. Y

our intolerance against Dr B R Ambedkar is for two reasons. First because he is Dalit and second because he drafted Indian Constitution which gives equal right to all Indians without dividing on the basis of caste or creed. He shattered your dreams of bringing in Manu Code which would have helped you to continue oppressing and trampling Dalits, women and others. Don''t claim to be intelligent.

Your knowledge is limited to your religion and you will never be able to think globally nor for entire India. You guys have created your own fortress and you don''t want anyone to break into it. Not beacause invaders are strong but because you are weak and that your weakness would be exposed.

Many in the past tried but failed and you too will follow them. If you want to laugh, it is your mouth and will and nobody would stop. Who said that we are not paying tax? Are you a tax officer to show how much tax we pay. How dare you say that we are enjoying social benefits at the expense of majority? We are Indians and we contribute to Indian economy.

Your ideologies, if any, you keep it to yourself and there is no one to buy it from you. Do you feel shame to call yourself an Indian first and a hindu next. I am proud to be an Indian. You are threating the worse to us. Keep the threat to youself. I am not your wife or servant to threaten me. We have seen similar threats before and would continue to see more in the future.

In return what did you give to India, you are serving in a foreign country. Your kith and kin are enjoying the freedom and social benefits India at the cost of majority. Are you paying tax? What did you give to India? And when the majority has woken up to this unfair treatment of majority to appease minorities even after 63 years of independence because of historical mistakes committed by Gandhi and Congress, you yell? Now its no more peaceful for you? Why do you think there are so many supporters for BJP among the majority? Watch out, change your habits and try to live without making a noise or it will be worse. Yes, history will be rewritten and this time it will be by the majority forces.

Ofcourse throwing shoes and chappals have become a fashion and an easy way to lent the air of protest. But the basic question is its a genuine protest or a mischief? either way it is condemnable. To get rid of the fascist regime/persons our constitution has given us the most powerful weapon, that is "VOTE"! use it the right way and there should be no need to throw the shoes/Chappals at anybody.

Unfortunately the misuse of this weapon is the root cause of our sufferings. So no politicians, party or the government should be blamed as we ourselves fall prey to their tactics and vote them to have power.

Mr Raj/Mangalore, I am shocked to read your comments. You are comparing rape or murder with organised crime and state sponsored terrorism. Rape could happen to any one from any community and all sensible people condemn it. Rape is a crime and forced sex. But what about women and girls are beaten in the name of culture, what about the attacks on churches, what about the attacks on silent protestors, what about Orissa carnage, what about the Godhra/Gujarat.

Rape is not directed against one particualr community. State is unleasing terror on minorities and protecting the perperators. I am against rape, I never justified it. In metropols crime rate is high. I am talking about state sponsored terrorism. Rape is not state sponsored terrorism. Please make a classic difference between the two rape and beating women in the name of culture. Thank you my brother. May God bless you and guide you.

Mr Yeddyurappa you really were the slipper target?,... Well before asking the police to arrest the alleged culprit there are steps to be follwed CM.... 1. Deny such an incident happened. 2. Wait for the Home Ministry to look into the incident. 3. Have a press conference promising to form an inquiry committe. 4. Again say its never happened as Karnataka is a peaceful state and it may be an isolated incident. 5. After Pressure from all quaters and centres advice ask for an FIR to be filed. 6. Then do a token arrest and follow by bail. 7. Give the guy a party ticket to contest the elections. I think individual doing this is in correct. This should be conducted as a group activity, I am sure during freedom struggle nobody would dare to think of doing this to then leaders. Because leaders then deserved great respect, people walking miles together from villages and in carts to hear their favorite leaders. Because then leaders deserved that respect. Keeping aside all the nonsense allegation pub attacks etc,,, remember Karnataka is 9th in place,, and the credit goes only to the all politicians in Karnataka ( it was No 2 few years back)

This cheap act is not justified with whatever be the reason for it. I am a strong critic of BJP and Mr.Yeddyurappa. I dont like him personally and politically but I dont endorse this kind of public behaviour of anybody showing such treatment to a elected representative and even any citizen for that matter. However, I firmly support the comment of Vera Alvares, Mumbai (That is the difference between an intellectual gentleman and the rest of common-class leaders. When student Chauhan hurled a shoe at Manmohan Singh, he calmly told the police to ignore it and not to press charges against the young man- that is the way his party treats the citizens of this country, with respect! Since the famous Iraqi journalist hurled his shoes at George Bush, it has become a fashion these days and there are at least four such cases in India. Many of those shoe-throwers must be thinking that they too will become "famous" like the Iraqi by hurling their shoes at politicians. I don''t think it can be stopped in the future as it is next to impossible to make people walk barefoot to attend the meetings of politicians. Strict action should be taken against these unruly guys so that future shoe-thrower would think twice before he throws his shoes at anyone. Whether a politician deserves a shoe or not, this kind of act is not at all appropriate. If someone wants to show his angst, there are other ways to do so without disturbing the public meetings. If this guy belongs to Deve Gowda’s party, mark my words, tomorrow a BJP guy will throw his shoe at Dewe Gowda in order to take tit-for-tat revenge. And again mark my words, it will not stop there it would be like a vicious circle, many of our politicians will receive shoes in the days to come.

It is a shame that even this act has to copied from some others doing and repeated in a country like India. Sad, like the politicians people too behave the same. Good to express views, but let them be educative and not venting out frustrations and pointing at others. Who are we to judge others, none of us are perfect in this world. Shoe/slipper throw is a protest by the citizens about their dissatisfaction over the leadership, party and developmental works. According to my opinion no leader in this world can satisfy each and every citizens of their nation. People have difference of opinions and we cannot blame entirely upon the government. Citizens are also responsible to a certain extent for the downfall of our neighborhood and our society. There was a fun that many Karnataka people have observed while bjp president Mr. Rajnatah singh was addressing a press conference Mr. Yeddyurapp’s chair was pulled back by the security men and unnoticeably Mr. Yeddyurappa tried to sit down again but in the absence of chair he fell down.
