Bengaluru, Jun 4: All the students studying in all types of graduate degree courses, postgraduate courses and diploma in the state of Karnataka will not get printed marks cards in future. The higher education department has decided to digitalize the marks cards.

In addition, the marks cards will be available both in Kannada and English languages. So far, marks cards were given only in English language. Along with the digitalization of the marks cards, the department is mulling to digitalize the payment of entrance and exam fees and also the process of obtaining marks cards.

This decision was taken at the meeting of the chancellors of all universities that was held in the city and presided over by higher education minister G T Devegowda. After the meeting, G T Devegowda informed that this decision is taken to prevent the menace of duplicate marks cards and other forgery.

Student can get their digitalized marks cards from the website of respective college or university. A unique password will be given to each student. The marks card can be downloaded by entering the name and password from the website.

The students can do away with attestation of the marks cards when applying for jobs or higher education in overseas countries. All measures are taken not to duplicate this marks card. This information was given by G T Devegowda.

The responsibility of training, manufacturing and upgradation of the digitalization software is given to Sir M Vishweshwarayya Technical University (VTU) of Belagavi.

The maintenance and set up of the software of this process will be given to National Academic Depository (NAD). Not only the current students, but all those who have cleared their examinations since 1990 will get their digitalized marks cards.

A decision was taken to conduct yoga and meditation compulsorily in the colleges and universities that come under the higher education department.
