Mumbai, Jun 5: A seven-year-old boy fell into a trench near a construction site at Ganesh Nagar in Kandivli and drowned in the water around 1pm on Tuesday.
After returning from school, Aditya Singh, according to police, went to the locality near his home to play with his friends and fell into the 12-foot trench filled with water.
As the boy was missing, his mother made a frantic search and found his body floating in the trench. Hearing the cries of her, the local residents rushed and retrieved the body with the help of fire brigade. "A probe is on to find out if the boy was playing with friends or local children, and if anyone saw him falling in," a police officer said.
"Sadhana started searching for her son around 2pm, as he did not return home. She noticed his body around 4pm in the trench, few metres from their chawl," added the officer.
As per TOI report, DCP (zone XI) Sangramsinh Nishandar said a case of accidental death report was filed, and a case will be registered against the builders, and those who had taken the development contract. Senior inspector Nitin Pondkule said they were registering an FIR.
