Mangaluru: Centering of well under construction collapses in Ganjimutt - One dies

Mangaluru, Jun 6: In a tragic incident that occurred at a tile factory at Ganjimutt near here, one person died when the centering of the slab that was being put around a well collapsed.

The deceased person is identified as Venkappa Kulal (38), son of Sesu Moolya, a resident of Siddakatte in the taluk of Bantwal. Another labourer Ashok Shet is injured in the mishap.

The body of deceased Venkappa is kept in the mortuary of a private hospital of the city.

A case in this regard is registered at Bajpe police station.

    true brothers . We can see the houses and wells constructed during 50s to early 90s by Kudumbi Gowda community and also boundary walls n pathways !The current generation needs only white colour jobs . Especially houses in Gurukambla, suralpadi, bhatrakere, Padil, permude!!
    . The most share goes to them in terms of construction and infrastructure development.

    Today such kind of hardworking people we cannot find .

    Sad that they are now a days away from these kind of hardworking assignments.

    Now a days quality of rigging of well become very cheaper due to low cost Labourers from UP , West Bengal and Bihar also from North East Workmanship. I am really proud of kudumbi community from Swamilapadavu. Especially Annu Gowda and his team . He used to come in lungi , find the water source through the techniques which his ancestral taught him . He is the one who dig the well of my bro bro VV . Within ten minutes he shown to VV the water source at Padii on the way to kathslsar. Now current generation of Gowda kudumbi community not interested and Annu Gowda’s son is VIP worker at back home . Thanks to VV for reforming him .

    Any how Snakappa was working with VV during previous work .

    Difficult to get labourers lke swamilapadavu kudumbi community. . They originally from Mijar and nearby Permude also. Good in centring work , canal digging, well digging etc. Remembering Enkapanna, ammu bai, lilla bai, ramesha, jinna gowda, Jannu Gowda, dudha Gowda, puthu Gowda . These are few and some of them no more . May their soul Rest In Peace !

    RIP Venkappa. The RCC slab must be more than 30 cm thick as can be seen from the picture. So much thickness is technically not required for such span. This work must have been executed just by making MAISTRY as ENGINEER which is typical situation in Mangalore in small constructionS.This can happen when people rely on MAISTRY more than ENGINEERS thinking that they have more knowledge than ENGINEERS.
