Kundapur: Curious Twist to Nityananda Shetty’s Death - Mother Suspects Grand-daughter's Hand

Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, May 5: The case pertaining to the death of young entrepreneur from the taluk, Noojady Nityananda Shetty(49) after falling off the decks of Star Cruise Virgo ship near Penang island, Malaysia while on an excursion with the family on April 13 this year, has taken a curious turn. Shetty's old-aged mother Girijamma has filed a complainnt with the Gangolly police station near here, expressing the suspicion that her grand-daughter might have played a role in her son's death.

It may be recalled, that Nitynananda Shetty(49), a successful entrepreneur and director of Bangalore-based Charmakki Group of Concerns and philanthropist,  reportedly lost his balance while standing on the decks of the cruise ship and fell into the sea water. His wife Kasturi Shetty had immediately plunged into the sea in a bid to rescue her husband. Kasturi was later saved by the guards in the ship and is undergoing treatment for damage to her spine.

Nityananda Shetty’s body was found washed ashore about two weeks later, about 200 kms away from the spot where the accident had occurred, in a decomposed state, partly eaten by sharks.

While his funeral was conducted in Malaysia and ashes were brought here to perform post-funeral rites, Shetty's wife had not come to the native place and no proper explanations were coming forth from the family about the accident. Mother of Nityananda Shetty has now requested the policemen to unravel the mystery behind her son's death.

In her complaint, she said, Prabhakar Shetty, who was accompanying her son in the Star Cruise journey, has informed her that her son died due to drowning in the sea in Malaysia. "No one is coming out with concrete facts of his death. No one is confirming as to whether it was it an accidental fall, did he commit suicide by jumping into the sea or was it a purposeful murder. I have suspicion that elder daughter of my son, Raksha N Shetty, might have played a role in his death," she suspected. Girijamma added that her grand daughter is a drug-addict and is in bad company, which strengthens the doubts about her involvement in her father's death. "To meet the need for huge amount of money, she might have killed my son, who owned assets worth crores of rupees," Girijamma has apprehended.

While Girijamma has requested the Gangolly station house officer to conduct thorough investigation and bring out the truth, family sources said, complaints will also made to the heads of the district and state police department and the Human Rights Commission.

Mr Shetty's daughter is not a drug addict.
All of you mind your words before talkin. Think twice and then comment. You guys don't even know what's happening in their lives, how much trouble they're going through. And yes, Mr Shetty did mint a lot of money and might have been really busy doing that. But that doesn't mean he did not bring up his children with good moral values.

Yes, you are right Lidia Lobo. Parents are part of our family and we teach the same to our children. Accusing with no base is not good as you have done. Changes are good for everyone. You learn out of it and try to be better by correcting your mistakes. Living in your own narrow minded life causes twisted logic that makes people judge and come to conclusions and accuse others. In short I am better than the rest, I do not make  mistakes. So, snap out of your dream world.

Lydia Lobo, you can expect other families to live as yours. Second, you are living way past in time. Times have changed. so, open your eyes. Mr. Shetty was an Indian citizen and on vacation in Malayisa. She has to ask Indian Govt''s help. The our Govt will ask Malayisan Govt for help in investigation. Indian culture is very narrow minded. When it is their favor no issues. If not then there is a big problem. That''s why we have no respect around the world.

I think we should not indulge in character assassin of somebody without knowing the facts of the case. The only truth we know now is that Nithyananda Shetty is no more, let us wait for the official version or disclosure by any one who was there with him at the time of his death. His wife Kasturi , elder daughter Raksha and cousin Prbhakar know for sure what exactly happened. It is a testing time for Mr.Shetty’s family irrespective of whether there was a foul play or not. There are so many conflicting reports about his death. Initially it was reported that he slipped and fell down, then gossiping started that it could be a case of suicide, after that I read that his daughter Raksha was supposed to have told somebody that the couple had argument minutes before his death, now his mother claiming that daughter Raksha could be behind his death since she is a drug addict and also informing the Gangolli police in her petition that the couple had a strained relationship. Now it is up to the wild imagination of the public. If there is no foul play from any one, the family should come open, clear the air and put an end to further gossiping.

In many comments, we have concluded that the grand daughter is a killer ! Is it right as none of us know what has happened in Malaysia, only his wife can explain the cause. Why we are passing the judgement before even knowing the actual story... even grand mother might have said this for some financial benefits..

Mr. Bhaskar, Nandalike, Do you think the pain of a mother commands more justice because she highlights the cause of death but his wife''s pain can be less ? His wife is the witness of the accident but decided not to speak about it because it holds their family''s honour.

James, you are right she needs justice but how can she demand it from India while the accident happened in Malaysia ? We had accidents (caused by humans) against foreigners in our country - how many of us defended their right for justice ? Did we not say that their actions were against Indian culture ?

Grand parents are more a guide to grand children than their own parents which exactly is what I see in my family. A grand mother''s word is more powerful when a child falters - a mother can be lenient many times. Had Mrs. Shetty exhibited her demand to family values when her grand daughter strayed away, she didn''t have to plead for justice now.

Lydia Lobo, you should think twice before you make a comment like this. How can you say that she has failed as a mother and grand mohter? About your question, what she has to prove? She needs justice. If it is true, then the person who committed the crime. I am sure she has been a good mother.

That is why her son was a sucessfull in life. We can not jump to conclusion that he was not a good father. How ever protective a parent may be, there are chances that kid still go a stray. You think your kids a perfect? I am sure they have fautls too. Does that make you a bad mother? Ask yourself.

A few of my friends who have taken this cruise in the past told me that this was a very strange accident as the risk of falling overboard was very very remote. The new turn of events proves that there was something fishy behind this accident. Their doubts now seem to be proven right. Hope the cops will be able to unearth the mystery behind this. If it is proved that the daughter has had a hand in her own father''s death, then it is a real tragedy.

Please remeber Lydia Lobo, Mrs. Shetty Lost her Son. As a lady you should understand pain of a mother who lost her baby eventhough he may 41 years old. Secondly you suggested not to spend public money for investigation. Her businessman son was paid crores of Ruees tax to government. Do you think she has no right to ask for investigation ?

What does Mrs. Shetty want to prove now ? What if she manages to find out the truth ? Her son will never come back. In-fact, she has failed somewhere in her duty as a mother and grand mother else, her grand-daughter would not have been a drug addict today.

I hope she does not requests for spending public money in investigating on a case that happened outside India. Her family is rich enough to hire private detectives if at-all they are interested.
