Mumbai, May 8: Renowned Mangalorean Dr Suresh S Rao Kateel was elected as office bearer for the new managing committee of Maharastra Medical Council (MMC), for 5 year term.
The elections for MMC with member strength of around 70,000, was held across the state on Sunday April 26, to elect the office bearers for its new managing committee. Dr Suresh S Rao Kateel had bagged the maximum votes as the results were announced on Sunday May 3. He was serving as president of Association of Medical Consultant (AMC).
It was after a lapse of many years a Kannadiga Mumbaikar general surgeon Dr Suresh Rao Kateel had contested the elections. He is also serving as president of Bombay South Canara Brahmins’ Association and also as managing director of Sanjivini Hospital, Andheri (East), here.
Dr Suresh Rao Kateel is hailing from pilgrimage center of Sri Kshetra Durgaparameshwari temple, Kateel, in Mangalore, Dakshina Kannada district. He is the son of Sanjeev Rao and Kartheyani Rao couple. He had done his early studies at temple school and pursued medicine study at Nair Hospital, in the metro. He did his MS from Nair Hospital and later published his 2 research works that express his mastery over special issues of interest. He began practising by setting up his own Sanjivini Hospital at Andheri (East), near railway station, here during 1988. Now, it has around 50 beds offering free treatment on TB, diabetes. Free ambulance service also added to the existing facility. He has also contributed his mite to set up Sri Durgaparameshwari Sanskrit Pratistan, at his native Kateel, in Mangalore.
