Mumbai, Jun14: A woman approached the Malabar hill police to register a Pocso case on her own family members for supporting their domestic help whom she alleged had sexually assaulted her 4 year old son. The woman who is living in Malabar Hill witnessed the maid sexually assaulting her son and she raised the issue with her husband and in-laws. Her husband and in-laws, instead of believing her, allowed the help to continue working in their house.
As per Times of India report, Malabar Hill Police have registered an offence under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, in 2012 on four persons, including the accused domestic help. The three others are the victim's father and his grandparents.
The report says, the four-and-a-half-year-old boy's mother, who is a lawyer, saw the maid touching her son inappropriately. Later, on her enquiry, the son narrated the incident and then took up the matter with the family.
Though the family, instead of believing her, allowed the maid to continue working in the house, after which the woman decided to lodge a complaint. On June 4, the police registered a case against four persons including the boy's father and grandparents. To support the charges, police have now recorded the statement of the minor boy under Section 164 of CrPC. As per Pocso Act it is mandatory to file a case against the accused in case of sexual assault on a minor and failure to do so will invite imprisonment.
